Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
I actually heard one of our salespeople ask a customer..." Did you want a V4 or a V6?" Customers would say V4 all of the time! I would chew up that salesman and have him for lunch. My best negotiation tactic has been to play dumb and ask the sales guy to explain what that "VTEC thingie" is and how it works. I have had a few sales people who knew their stuff, and the rest resorted to basically "there are hamsters in there and they spin the little hamster wheels...." If I were a sales guy, and someone asked me about a V4 Accord, I would know right away that this person did not do his/her homework and I could sell them the brooklyn bridge as an add on to the car. It is simple, know your stuff (do your homework) or you will pay. Works in both directions. By the way, local dealer has a left over 2011 Accord EX V6. When I was picking up wife's car from the CR-V recall, I checked it out. I am thinking $24,000 is a good price for a 1 year old vehicle with 10 miles on the odometer. Am I way off?
$27,635 including destination charge In White Plains. OTD = $30,375 which included 8.875% NY sales tax plus TL. Yonkers has the same car (2011 Accord EXL-V6) for $26,459 quoted price (w/o TTL) and a Accord Ex-L V4 for $24,850 quoted price (w/o TTL) but must finance through dealer - unsure if the two prices include destination charges. Honda Auto Plaza in Brooklyn, NY made statements that they can match or beat the above prices. Watch out for the finance guy who will try to reap back in profit. Be on the lookout for the after sell of $2000 plus honda care extended warranty which they will try and sneak in without your knowledge on your paperwork if you are not careful.
Hi, Not sure where the prices are right now but I bought the pilot 2011 exl 4-wd w/RES last June for 33800. I believe the same but with NAV was about the same. Route 23 Honda. Side note, 2012 pilot is around the corner. Julian
It was quite interesting 7days since I decided to go with another civic. I have contacted only via emails with almost 15 dealers in my region (NY, NJ). That range of selection gave me wide understanding to be able to sort out which one is really good or bad. Final Purchase at DCH Kay Honda Total OTD $16775 (Base Price, NJ 7% TAX, MV $299, Doc fee$249, Tire fee$7.5, Destination fee$750 etc.) 1.9% finance for 60months. Michael Reynolds worked aggressively in last minute. It was smooth at the dealer shop without any surprise. Good Base Price $ offer (not OTD $) : VIP Honda in NJ, Route 22 Honda, Planet Honda, DCH Academy Honda, Garden State Honda, DCH Kay Honda, Paul Miller Honda of West Caldwell, Plaza Honda in Brooklyn NY. Recommendable dealer : VIP honda, Route 22 Honda Dealer to avoid : Garden state Honda ( we have corresponded the most emails to determine the final price. However, after wasting 3 hours at the dealer shop to purchase, they changed words. They have advertised free iPad for new civic purchase but asked me to pay $360 more to to get it. Total gimmicks. But not so bad for iPad purchase.... ) Regarding a Car, it's very good feeling to drive. I am very satisfied.
ranger17, it looks like I missed you note. i got my pilot from route23 honda. they beat everyone's price in the area including DCH honda.
