Find Honda Dealers in Akron, New York

Just paid $400 over invoice for a Midnight Blue EX-L. The only accessory I added was the running boards (at 20% off list price). Grand total out the door price was $29,317 (including $125 Ohio doc fees and $531 for the running boards). Also got the 2.9% financing for 60 months. Thanks to the postings on this board, I found out about Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron. After a series of emails with their internet manager, I flew out there this past Saturday morning, spent an hour and a half at the dealership filling out paperwork and then took a leisurely 8-hour drive back to NY. It couldn't have been easier. I highly recommend Pruitt. Try Airtran for cheap airfares to Akron-Canton airport. I got a one-way internet special for $70 (LaGuardia to Akron-Canton).

My first post - wanted to thank all those at this site for sharing your great tips. I decided to try the out of state deal and ended up saving over $1000. I live in Rochester, NY - bought from Mike Pruitt Honda, in Akron. $250 over invoice plus $250 to ship to my door. The internet manager was GREAT - in fact, it was the best new car buying experience I ever had.

add me to the list of out of state pilot buyers. good advice given in this forum. ohio(akron) dealer gave great price on 03 EXL but since i want to wait for the 04 said price break would not be as good. they ran a two state locator of the vehicle i wanted to see when they were getting one in. left it with me while off to talk with someone. i was able to see all the dealers within reasonable distance of my ny home. found an erie, pa dealer getting the car in middle of sept. emailed; they matched the ohio dealer price for the 04( i pay whatever price increase) AND gave me what i believe is $1,000 more than i thought my trade was worth. bianchi honda. the most pain free car buying experience ever. and of course, with the trade my tax due (8.25% in ny!!) will be less because the trade is deducted off the price. another $850 or so saved. also, 100 miles closer than akron. i was leery to buy this way but highly recommend it now.

A word of thanks to all of you out there who have posted your experience with out of state transactions. You gave me the knowledge and confidence to make this happen. In my area (central NJ), there is limited inventory and little room to move on price. Although Paragon Honda in Queens, NY was good on price and helpful, they were not able to actually get me my vehicle. I e-mailed three dealers in OH, two of whom were very willing to work with me. Motorcars in Cleveland Heights was great, but I ended up going with Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron because they actually had the vehicle available immediately. $28,230 for a Sagebrush EX + $1513 for running boards, fog lights, auto day/night mirror and rear splash guards installed. I e-mailed them on Saturday, made phone contact on Monday and took delivery this Thursday! $300 to have the car delivered and did the paperwork in my kitchen. The most painless car purchase of my life. Maybe not the best price that's out there, but I have my car 4 days after making contact and in time for our summer vacation! Thanks again to all.
