Accord LX Deal

I went car shopping with my gf for an Accord with her 21 yr old son Sat.I knew I could get an Accord for invoice minus approx 550 from a couple of different dealers.My biggest problem was his trade which was a 99 Galante ES with 105k on it.It was also involved in an accident earlier this month.It had a crumpled front hood,grille gone,broken left headlight and damage underneath.I saw that a Galante in poor condition should fetch approx 2200,but I knew this was going to be tough.The first 2 dealers only offered 500 for trade so that killed the deal before we began.The third dealer,Tom's River Honda (NJ) got the deal,but they were the biggest bunch of shyster car salesman I ever dealt with. Because it was the end of the month and they were also doing a promotion,it was very busy there.To make a long story short,I outtalked the salesmanger,and we got an LX with pin striping,door edge guards in Gray for 17,100,which they gave us 2,000 for the trade.The price of the car was around invoice.After the deal was struck,they tried everything in their power to try an screw us,get us angry an leave.Even the financing was a problem,due to great credit we wanted 5.9 an they tried to trick us into signing for probably close to 8. They were the biggest pack of crooks I ever had to deal with.If we weren't getting such a great deal I would have made them walk.That trade was a POS,if I had got 800 I thought that would be max,but I saw where the sales manager was going right off an he agreed to invoice an 2 grand for trade before he tried to tank us. First time I think I totally outsmarted a bunch of crooks.
Philly - EXL RES and Navi for Inv + $484

We picked up our Silver EX-L with RES and NAVI last night from Philadelphia Honda (near the airport). I paid 31,448 +TTL including destination. Doc Fee including transfer of tags was only $119. I did have a trade (old used Ford escort), and he did not give me much on it, but I still traded it in. Dont think I could have done much better selling it privately.   I had sent emails to over 50 dealers in NJ, PA and DE, in mid-december and this dealer was the 3rd lowest in price. Two others dealers: Monmouth Honda of Lakewood NJ, and Mack Honda of Toms River NJ were going lower, close to Invoice price, but did not have the color I wanted (Silver).   The internet salesman at Philadelphia Honda was great. I put a deposit down on this van on Dec 19 with expected delivery between 25th and 31st. Got the VIN on Dec 22, but then he called me early last week and told me the car was delayed and would only arrive on the 3rd (yesterday), which it did. I had asked for free splash guards, which they did put on.   Also qualified for 2.9%. They offered extended warranty of 6 yrs/100k with $100 deductible for $950 (down from original offer of $1200), but I turned it down. Probably is a very good price, but thought I wouldnt need it (I hope!)   All in all, a great experience, and definitely recommended. Havent had time to even enjoy the car as we got done with the paperwork at 10 pm and got home at 10:30 pm (the dealership had 6 deliveries last night after 8 pm).   I've been lurking in these groups for a long time, finally get the chance to post, and hopefully will post more in the future.   Cheers lzk

I have not been able to post my new car experience sooner since I've been occupied with my new ride. I picked up my Sandstone Metallic Pilot EX-L with Navigation on Friday. My brother in-law and I flew from NYC's Laguardia to Ohio and was picked up at the airport by the salesman that I've been dealing with. We were out of the dealership within an hour. The salesman was great. He went over all of the features and even helped me program the navigation system for the long drive back to NJ. Worked like a charm. He is the man! I can't say enough about Mike Pruitt Honda. They were professional and very easy to deal with.

I also live in south Jersey and pretty much set to pick up my vehicle from Mike Pruitt in OH. I'm getting a Sandstone EX-L with Navigation at $600 over dealer invoice. I tried several dealers in my area and they couldn't match it. David Michael in Freehold said the best they can do is $500 below MSRP and congratulated me on getting such a low price. I also received my VIN number but no picture. I keep asking the salesman to send me one and he says that they are really busy and doesn't think he can get around to it. Who did you deal with at Mike Pruitt? If you can't mention people's names on this discussion initials would be fine. I'll post my full experience once I get my vehicle.

I've been looking at the Pilot for sometime (internet, dealership)and was wondering what kind of price others are paying in NJ. I'm in the Toms River and currently looking shopping for the Pilot at Bob Ciasulli Honda. They had a EX that they installed a DVD in for 2300, when you can get a EX-L DVD for 32,020 and EX-L without DVD for 30,520 (1500 dollar difference for installment). Totally outrageous. Anyone have a EX-L with DVD? Any issues?
