EX L Sdn V-6 W/Nav

Been to five dealers in the past month to trade my 08 Acura TL w/nav, six months old, and 3300 miles even up, for an 09 Accord EX Sdn L V-6 W/Nav. I had no takers, and was about to call it quits. I had one Honda Dealer in Manahawkin, NJ, state $8,000, and my car. I thought that he was joking, but he was serious. He on three occasions told me to sit tight, and wait a minute. He finally got it down to $6,000. It was time to leave. On my last try with another dealer in North Jersey, which was this past Saturday, I finally met a sales person who offer no b/s. His first offer was $3,600, and my car. I stated $1,500, and after a few minutes of waiting he came back, and said OK. It's the green color Accvord, which for some reason is difficult to come by in the V-6 W/Nav. He stated that he should be able to have it in his dealership by the end of this week. On the agreement, it states the following; "If A Purchase, The Following Apply: Vehicle Protection Program $198.00, Credit Inquiry Fee (if applicable) $19.00, Co-Buyer Credit Inquiry Fee (if applicable) $19.00 (Wife will be on title), Registration/ Title Fee, with Transfer checked off, $40.50, DOC Fee, $279.00, and Online Registration Fee, $7.70. The registration fee is hand written, and the rest highlighted on the form that was there when form was made. Before I signed form, I stated that I wanted what was on my TL at no charge, and that was pin stripe, wheel locks, mud guards, and matching color door edge guards. When I'm called to inform me that the car is in, I'm going to ask at no charge, for matching color door protection molding. I new that I would take a hit in selling the TL after such a short time of ownership. I could have sold it privately, but would of paid sales tax big time when purchasing the Accord at agreed price. I'll pay sales tax only on $1,500. However, I strongly feel that my hit wasn't as bad as I thought. The TL is a great car, but because of a personal situation I had to sell it. MSRP for Accord is apprx. $31,575. The price accepted by the dealer for the Accord was $27,400.

Now I can't guarantee that he got every penny because I wasn't going to even touch the neighborhood he was looking in. I had time to wait. I don't doubt for a minute that he came close. If it keeps up like this I might have to sell the thing every couple of years and buy new....

I'd jump at that price myself. As far as minivans not holding value, I would check on any Odyssey. We are now in year 4 of production and getting one at MSRP is considered a good deal. My dealer in NJ sold a 99 with 25,000 miles on it in a day last month at what had been MSRP in 99. Yes you can get a used 99 Windstar, Caravan, etc at a much lower price. What's the point? There are minivans and then there are minivans. Odyssey holds its value and doesn't show real signs of stopping. If that's what you want, that's what they go for.

Yeah, I think you're getting snowed. I ordered a 2002 LX in August and have had it for a week now. They had actually predicted late October delivery and I ended up picking it up on October 5. Route 23 Honda in Pompton Plains, NJ.
MSRP in NJ

Kay Honda in Eatontown and Island Honda in Manahawkin both offered 01 EX at MSRP. Had good dealings with both sales but decided to purchase at Island Honda based on personal convenience alone. Ordered in early May and it arrived last week (one month earlier than expected). Still in the early stages of ownership but so far everything is positive. Will keep all updated.

After following this forum for months we finally decided to take the plunge and order our Odyssey. Following the advice of one poster I emailed all of the Honda dealers in NJ/Merto NY and Eastern PA. The only NJ dealers who answered and offered MSRP were Island Honda in Manahawkin, NJ and David Michael in Freehold. We opted to order ours thru Hillside Honda in Jamaica, NY for MSRP because the wait seemed shorter and they are actually closer to our home in north eastern NJ. Burne Honda in Scranton also offered us MSRP and seemed very nice in their communications with us. I found it interesting that most of the dealers in northern NJ either never responded to our emails or basically laughed at us when we told them we would not pay over MSRP. Anyway- our new van is due in next week and I'm glad that our journey is almost over. I hoped this helped the other NJ Odyssey seekers.
