Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
I received a quote yesterday from a dealer in central NJ for $17,000 OTD for an Orange Fit Sport 5spd man w/o navigation. They will have to order the car as they don't have one in stock, and they know i won't be buying it until Friday the 24th to use my $4500 CARS credit, so after the credit I'm at $12,500. I was really hoping to hit the $12,000 mark which would mean an OTD price of $16,500. I'll keep you all updated as to whether I reach this price before Friday. If anyone has done better, or if you think my hopes for the magic $16,500 are a bit of a stretch, let me know! Keep in mind the model year is drawing to a close, and as far as i know, dealers haven't been selling much of anything for most of July, so I'm really hoping to hit my mark! Heck, maybe I can even do better than the $16,500! Let me know your thoughts.
do you have this price in Orange County, Ca?
We picked up our new '07 CR-V EX-L at Heritage Honda/Parkville MD on Thursday. $25,137 incl destination $99 dealer fee Pd NY state tax, they will send a check (taxes) for us to give to NY DMV when we register the car. We were a bit skeptical but went down in our trade-in, 2000 Subaru Legacy, previously unseen. Got $4900 for trade-in, we had been offered $3000 in NJ from Garden State Honda/Passaic, they also wanted $26,000 for the CR-V. Unbelievable service from this dealer, I can't say enough about them. Wish they were closer to service the car! I had sent an email inquiry and got an ans from the dealer's internet guy, called and picked our color, gave $500 cc deposit on 12/23, picked up on 12/28. they matched our online financing deal, did NOT push any extras at closing, only let us know what was available, which we declined. If you are in the Baltimore area, this is a great dealer. Happy New Year, everyone!!
That price is for one w/o NAVI. It is from the internet dept at Heritage Honda in Baltimore, MD area. I just bought one there as well, arrives Tuesday, I hope. I asked about NAVI and the salesman said not till March. The difference in invoice price between an EX-L and an EX-L NAVI model is $1845. Supposedly they only became avail a month ago, and people were ordering them since last summer, so those buyers are getting them now. I don't think you'll get much of a break on a NAVI model for awhile, too much demand. I live in NY state, no one budges off MSRP, only by a few hundred, and then wants to sock it to you on your trade and fees. The fee at Heritage is $99. We have a quote at Paramus Honda (NJ), dealer fee $129, obtained for us by a long time employee for $25000 for an EX-L arriving in late January, and we put a deposit on it, have the VIN#, but my husband doesn't want to wait that long. The $25k quote is impossible to touch in this area. We called 25 other dealers around here, no one has any stock, and no one will go as low. Why should they, these cars fly off the lot. At Paramus, we are on a month long wait list, even w/deposit. We started in our area and called south, Philly and Delaware large dealers also had no stock and wanted MSRP to be on an order list. So we are driving 240 miles to Parkville, MD. We figure if Heritage won't give us a decent trade value, we'll wait until the end of January for Paramus Honda. In any area, if you are seriously looking for this car, I would recommend getting internet quotes from an expanding radius of your hometown. Since farther north and west of us was snow country, we concentrated south. Most of our inquiries did generate a response but not a quote. I called them once I had the internet dept dealer's name and I used our $25k figure, most said MSRP. If you want NAVI, say $26.6k and see what that gets. The NAVI is so cool, we saw it in a Ridgeline. But our trade in has a new check engine lite every other month or so so it's time to say goodbye. This forum was invaluable to me in researching how to buy a car. I also read online from other sources. Each time you buy you learn a little more. We went to Garden State Honda (NJ) after ordering in Paramus to see if they had any stock, showed them our invoice with $25k, they supposedly had three. After 3 hours of searching various lots, none to be had. Then they found one at another dealer and tried to get us to go for $26k, a crappy trade value, and $300 plus in dealer fees. They came down to $25435 and would not move from there, even with a trade value that was over $1000 below the "fair" value for our car. We left and I started calling dealers the next day to see if anyone had any stock. Most did not, the one who did would not bargain. Every one of them was waiting for delivery dates in late January. That's when I started my email search. If you are anywhere near to Baltimore, I would definitely try Heritage In Parkville. Guess we will really know for sure next week when we go to pickup, hopefully. Merry Christmas to all!!
