Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
2008 CRV-EX-L $24,992.58 :) :) Yea, baby!!
Hi don't mind at all. Victoria BC guy looking all over the US for a EX/L. North west US dealers not serious yet. They dont realize that a $200 cheap flight will take you anywhere in the US. Forget about them. Almost $3000 higher! They must think they're in Canada!!! Been dealing with Sussman Honda internet salesman who, up to today had best invoice of $26,539 + taxes and tags+ $1700 for options of side-step, towing pkge.and crossbars installed. Have't closed deal yet but expect to as soon as my credit union responds. Then I will ask for a emailed OTD price which should be the same as before. We'll see. However just googled "Open Road Instaquote" (yes, instant) and got $26,100 (haven't talked about extrs yet) they are in Edison NJ, only about 50 mi fom Philly. What are your experiences.
I just purchased ours last week (EX-L) without any Nav or RES in Grand Rapids MI at Rivertown Honda dealership for approx 29,7XX OTD (Destination, tax, title, etc.. etc..) Very courteous service, fast transaction and no hassles at all. I did have the $500 manu to dealr deal working in my favor until the 5th though. Give them a try.
The dealer is Jeffrey in Roseville. They seem like a good company to deal with. Ask for the internet manager. Turns out I will not be buying from MI. The dealer in Corvallis, OR called me on Fri. They had a Black EXL that they have been having a hard time selling. Apparently Black is a harder sell up here. He told me that they were motivated to move it, because if they keep Pilot inventory on hand for too long it affects their allocation. Anyway, he asked me if they could make a trade for a black EXL-RES, what would it take for me to buy the car. I really did not want black, but I told him $1200 below MSRP. He called me back and said that his manager gave the go ahead on the price and the trade was for a Midnight Blue EXL-RES with running boards, cross bars, splash guards and wheel locks. Well Midnight Blue was my original 1st choice and although I was not sure if I was going to go for any options, I figured that the options that the car had were ones that I would have considered, except for the Wheel Locks. Anyway, to sum up my experience, I went from buying a car in Mi and shipping to OR to buying a car for immediate delivery in OR for $1200 below MSRP with $1100 of options that I may or may not have ordered. I also got a decent value for a trade in. I am fairly satisified with deal considering I do not have to worry about transporting my new car and stressing about any damage that might occur to it during transport. I guess there are dealers on the west coast that are willing to deal if the circumstances are right. I think they pretty much need to have it on the lot though or readily available. It turns out another OR dealer called me about a Pilot EXL-RES on the lot that he was willing to do $1000 below, but I had already entered into contract.
In a prior post (#614: Pilot order on Jan 10), I had reported on my order from Waikem Honda (Marc Douglas) in OH (I live 20 mi West of DC) for a Sandstone EX-L. It was scheduled to be built Jan 19-23 and arrived to OH on Feb. 6. Today it was delivered to my door on a trailer at which time I paid the rest of my amount (less 500 deposit) and the shipping bill of $350 (for the 400 mile haul). There were no surprises! The Pilot had 23 miles on it. Bottom line was as I had reported earlier: $800 over invoice + $24.75 (30 days for OH temp tags) and don't forget the shipping of $350. In a couple weeks, I expect to get an OH tittle and then I will have to endure the VA DMV lines to register it and pay the sales tax. If you cannot buy a Pilot off the lot and you have to wait for it anyway, I would strongly encourage this form of a buy. No dealer tactics were involved, no hassles, no pressure, no bull and a delivery right to the door! Very refreshing! Any Questions? AT
