So you bought a new 2007 LX in Atlanta for $22,000? We are buying a van in 2 days and have an opp to buy a new 2006 LX for $21,999. This place in MI said that they just "found" this 2006 in the back of their dealership. Add a roof rack and cross bars installed for $366.25, document fees of $180 and without tax you have $22,545.25. Is this a good deal?
RE: 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L w/ DVD & NAV [jstephens1]

A few helpful hints/experiences from my 'journey' after doing a significant amount of online (know the numbers, the std/optional equip. costs/pricing, customer reviews/feedback) and offline (drive the vehicle several times at several places). Send out emails in your 'local area using Edmunds or Honda.com for a, and I stress 'Out the Door before taxes and title' quote...One quote, your best quote, as I will not be haggling, and will be buying this vehicle, somewhere, this week...'06 Odyssey EX w/L w/RES w/NAV Black exterior/Ivory interior (no alternate choices). The quotes came back midway between MSRP and Invoice w/Dest - too high for my blood. Expand your email quote solicitation geographically to within a day's drive or so (Nashville, Knoxville, Montgomery, Mobile, Birminham etc). The quotes were lower but still $800 to $1000 above invoice w/1 @ +$540 (and they had to drive 300 miles to get 'my' vehicle) Expand your geographic range again...in this case up north, in the snow belt where perhaps a Black vehicle is not so highly prized. Eureka...Toledo OH...'will have to drive 100 miles to bring this vehicle from MI to sell to you at invoice'...$31665 + a small title/lien fee Jim White Honda got my business, with Brown Honda the same + $100 (doc fee). DO respond to/thank all who have contacted you, and ask for a specific price from those who have your vehicle (be sure to ask) or who are closer (cost of the trip/your time) to you than lowest price. For example, I sent back 'going up north to buy this vehicle OTD for 31665...save me the trip...32000. No takers anywhere in the south, but worth the try. Buyer Beware: Be specific in your quote request: all charges, including destination fees...Out the Door, before taxes/title. Hold the dealer to the quote (email/OTD specifics) I had the dealer throw out a doc fee that somehow got on the settlement statement but was NOT in the OTD email quote. Do your homework on financing. Arrange this/negotiate if you need with the dealer. Make sure you know 'the rate' and the APR. I was quoted a rate...somehow a $175 loan orig. fee was on the settlement statement that had not been divulged previously. This was thrown out, after I objected in the strongest of terms. (LOFee is paid within your first payment/off the top - making a quick refinance more $ difficult). Prepayment Penalty? I should say not. Extended Warranty coverage: do your homework (within Edmunds' forums)... come armed with your quotes, know the numbers, what is included/excluded, etc. I almost bought a 8 yr/120 mi 0/Ded for 1545 + tax, rolled into my payment (+$30/month)...+1800 over the life of the loan!? I think not...now the dealer is offering $125 cash back...or 10% down with 0% financing...you have time to decide...see forums. And when you are considering bids/price you'll obviously need to factor in the cost of the trip (12 hours on the return trip thru snow and rain/dark - priceless) to get your vehicle what is it worth to you...and are things like mud guards, luggage rack cross bars, etc included or not included. The cost of these items can add up. This isn't the ALL of getting the best deal...but one man's journey. Hope this helps...best wishes. And apologies for the long windedness, as life is indeed short.
Atlanta Element Buying Adventure
by 8484 on Mon Apr 19 12:45:22 PDT 2004
I live in Atlanta and priced 2004 Element EX 2WD (orange) w/o add'l options. Best price in metro ATL was $19,381, with a $500 trade for my 1990 Saab 900 with 217k miles on it. Lanier Honda, 30 miles North, offered it for $17,996 ($19,255 out-the-door). BUT, they would not take my Saab on trade, so I was going to sell it myself, hoping for about $1,000. Before I could buy, I was on business in Thomasville, GA (250 mi. South of ATL), and dropped in to Thomasville Honda. I showed them my Buyer's Order from Lanier Honda, my Saab title and my blank bank check and told them I'd buy from them at the same price IF they would give me an out-the-door price of $18,100 which INCLUDES fees, tax, tag, title, and destination charges). They agreed, which equated to about a $1,200 trade for my Saab. They threw in keyless remote and the plastic tray that fits in the back cargo area. I believe I got an excellent deal.
2004 Graphite Pearl LX-V6 Sedan - Atlanta area
by timmernator on Sat Dec 06 10:07:13 PST 2003
Factory fresh (4 mi. on odometer) Sales price - $20,698.58 Destination - $490.00 Sales tax 6% - $1271.31 Title - $21.00 Out the door @ $22,480.89 First contact with Lanier Honda was by e-mail, then a test drive. We drove this & the Nissan Altima. Went back and forth a few times but price & features made the Honda the clear winner (Nissan places were unwilling to deal much for the 3.5 SE). I e-mailed several other Honda dealerships for their best price, quoting my pricing research and my wish to avoid excessive doc fees & other extras, but my message to my contact at Lanier was simple - they gave me two test drives, no pressure, and I gave them the first opportunity to sell me a car. Dealer fees (doc, secure etch) were "included" in the price. No hard sell from F&I - I already had financing and I politely refused the extended warranty.   They ordered the car for me after they couldn't find it in the southeast. $500 down in early November, and it was waiting for me when I got back from Thanksgiving vacation! Extremely pleased with both the buying experience & the car!
