Fit base w/ MT Out the Door in Louisville?
by single_digit on Sat Jun 14 14:08:51 PDT 2008
I am in Louisvile KY and looking at the base model with MT and have a couple of questions... I guess I'm looking at around $15,000 to $15,500 but I'm hoping to get feedback from anybody in the same general area on what the OtDP is. Are the color and transmission type the only options available on Fits. The salesperson at the dealership I testdrove at said they have only the package deal, no user configurable cars. I would like to get a basic Fit (manual Trans), but am interested in the MP3 cd system that comes with the Sport. The rep said that isn't possible.I might also be interested in the alloy wheels, but the Honda website configurator (which seems to fly in the face of what the rep said) shows they are around $1000 (if I'm gonna do that I might as well get the sport). Also, does anybody know if there will be any incentives on the '08s when the '09s roll in? My feeling is no since there is so much demand for Fits right now.The rep said that the 09s should only be a few hundred more than the '08s, but I never like to buy a new model/body style (and their glitches). I would really like to buy a used one and knock a bit off the price, but I am seeing the used ones selling for more than new ones. How is this possible (especially with no dealer incentives on Fits)?!? Not many are turning around and selling a Fit with 20k miles on, but still... Lastly, what's up with the inconsistent mileage I've read about? I read a couple of earlier posts in this thread about how some people are only getting mid 20s on MPG? We have a diesel Beetle that gets 45 MPG and we'd keep it, but the stroller and carseat for our newborn seem to say otherwise. If this car won't get mid 30s I'm not interested. Are these screwy low MPG Fits the exception or are they common?

Ok ok, kool i was wondering when it was going to come out, because no one had said anything yet. So if its coming out on the 22nd then pricing should be announced very soon.

The VP models have $2,500 and all the others should have $3,500. The amount appears to drop $1k if you take the cheap financing. If you have to finance and run the numbers, I would guess the cheap financing would save more than the $1k but it all depends on your rate. Some credit unions are doing 4.49% to 4.9% for new car loans, so it might be close. Invoice is well known you can find it a number of places, the dealer incentives are shown here. Hold back should be 2% of MSRP. If you take invoice less incentive that should be a nice price, if you can get into the hold back a bit even better. I would just be up front with them, tell them you know invoice and incentive amounts and know the 09 Pilot is on the way and you would take one of the old Pilots off their hands if they are willing to make you the right price. My local dealers would not come close to the deal I got on our Pilot by driving 3 1/2 hours each way. Not even close - we are talking $1,200 or so IIRC. I have leased cars from all over, WI, CT, KY, GA, etc - going where the deal is. I have used a car hauler to bring them in or done the fly out drive back or driven both ways - as long as the deal was right on the right car it was no problem. If you want to fly and do a long drive home, I am sure I can find you a deal in Louisville or Atlanta areas. Might not be worth the plane fare and gas, though. There are several low price dealers in Chicago, but you also have to watch for tricks. They get someone in from out of state and then remember to add the destination charge or the dealer fee on top of the price you were quoted. I can vouch for dealers elsewhere I can recommend, but if you do something like this in Chicago get several deals with several area dealers and if the best one does try something just leave and go to the next dealer until you get what you want for the right price.
