Re: 2008 crv ex-l navi trade in? [kyfdx]

I agree with kyfdx. You'll undoubtedly take a major 'hit' trading it in so soon. If you're hell bent on getting rid of it, would at least try and sell it privately, but unless you discount it heavily, a potential buyer would likely just prefer to get a brand new one. I debated long and hard about the CR-V versus the Tiguan, but utimately decided to go with the CR-V (bought it in March of this year). I bought it at invoice and got 10% off all dealer installed accessories. The Tiguan I would have wanted (and likely couldn't resist if I went with a Tiguan) was going to be a loaded up SEL to get the leather and other goodies. It was going to cost $8-9K more than the CR-V EX-L AWD with navi I bought, plus I knew the dealers were going to want to sell them at MSRP initially (and some might even try to get over MSRP- though I'd never pay that). Plus, it doesn't get as good fuel economy as the CR-V. Now if the TDI Tiguan had been available from the getco, I might have considered it, but since it wasn't, I just went with the CR-V. If a TDI becomes available, I might go for it (or a diesel CR-V, which I've also heard rumblings about).
Re: Better deal on extended warranty [ecarfar]

Apparently Honda must have backed off on not permitting dealers to sell extended warranties through the internet effective April 1st since Saccucci (and other dealers who sell them this way) still seem to be seliing them . I wonder if Honda was really threatening to do this or whether the dealers were just telling potential customers this to increase their sales- I suspect Honda just backed off, recognizing it might be better to sell more warranties at a lower profit per waranty than fewer warranties at a higher profit per warranty, but I suppose the internet sales dealers could have just been 'blowing smoke'. Anyone have any knowledge of the true situation?

I think you're getting ripped off. You could buy that same warranty at Saccucci for $615, I bought the $0 deductible 6 yr/120K warranty from them for $790. They are a reputable seller of genuine Honda warranties- when I received all the final paperwork (the warranty itself) on the warranty, it came from Honda itself, not Saccucci. I was pleased with the purchase (plus I liked their offer to pay for it over 12 months with no interest charges).
2008 AWD EX-L with navi
by tdiidman on Sun Apr 13 07:22:00 PDT 2008
I purchased my AWD EX-L with navigation from a dealership in Kentucky. I paid $27,034 ($1 over Edmunds' invoice) and received all accessories (parts + labor) at a 10% discount. Of course, taxes, doc fee, license were extra. Overall, I was pleased with my deal, which was offered up front without the need for negotiation.

I paid $27034 for my EX-L with navigation and then got a 10% discount on dealer installed accessories. Of course, had to also pay tax/doc/license fees, but I was satisfied with my deal here in the Bluegrass state.
'07 Touring RES/NAV in TN

Sorry this took so long to post but I figure "better late then never" This site certainly helped me, so maybe my post could help another. I compared prices across about 15 dealers in south central KY (Lexington, Richmond, Somerset, etc) and eastern TN (Knoxville, Chattanooga, etc). Ultimately, I ended up purchasing from West Side Honda in Knoxville. Not only did they have the best price, but their service was great as well. Internet Sales Manager was easy to deal with and very straight forward. Here is the deal I got. On June 30 34100.50 - Vehicle(incl 595 dest charge) 1310.00 - Honda Care(6yr 120,000miles, $0 deductible) 299.00 - Tire & Wheel Protection(5yr) 399.50 - Doc prep(T&L) 2417.94 - Tax 5.50 - TN fee for some BS like battery or tire --------- 38532.44 - OTD (incl protection package, cargo tray, wheel locks, mud flaps, pin stripe) Good luck, Ed
