Hello, I'm still (since Nov 07) trying to get a GREAT deal on a GREAT car. I want to find a Accord EX-L V6 w/Nav in Basque Red. It seems impossible to find one. I have been working with 4 dealers and seems like no one has one. This of course means that when one does come in i know they are going to want me to pay $$$ for it. I wanted to pay no more than 28,500 for the car, the best price i have been given for the car (just not Basque Red) has been 28,988. I have been reading the post off and on but wanted to know if others have see much better pricing. I will most likely have to travel to S. Cal from Boise, Id to get this price or ship the car up. Not sure how much that will cost me!
Just got home with an EX-L w/ RES & NAV

I'm in the Boise, ID area and have been looking for a few weeks. We wanted the EX-L w/ RES & NAV, but my wife was set on getting in in midnight blue pearl. No one had this combo locally, so, based on the advice from this forum, I sent out a series of emails to Honda dealerships in Idaho, the Salt Lake area and the Portland area. Within an hour, I'd received a few auto-replies, and one personal reply from Jay Lee's Gladstone Honda in Gladstone, OR. They had what we wanted, and their price was significantly better than anything locally. One other dealership matched their price, but didn't have the right color, the other offers were quite a bit higher. So, we agreed upon the price below, all by email: 2007 Honda Odyssey EXL w/RES/Nav $30,187 +Splash Guards $155 +Cargo Tray $115 +Cross Bars $255 Total Price of the Vehicle $30,712 Plus Doc. Fee $50 and Temp Fee $20 Out the Door Price $30,782 Oregon doesn't have sales tax, so I'll need to tack on 6% when I register it here in Idaho next week. With the recent deals available from Honda, this is a great time to by. I saw in an earlier post someone from WI got a similar van for about $800 less, but here in the Northwest, that was the best deal I could find, and we were able to get the van exactly the way we wanted. I also need to comment on the shopping experience. The person I dealt with at Gladstone Honda was great. Her answers to my questions were prompt and thorough. I flew over to Portland yesterday morning with a cashier's check in my pocket, they had my van cleaned and ready, the paperwork process was fast, and while they did show me the various extended warranty/paint protection/etc options, there was zero pressure to buy these add-ons. A few hours later, the new van was in our drive way, and I couldn't be happier. Everyone should be able to enjoy a car shopping experience like that!

Be careful what you wish for - I'm heading to Seattle for Thanksgiving ;-). Steve, Host

You came through Boise and didn't buy me coffee and Krispy Kremes? Tsk tsk. We do that drive now and then - my wife recently drove to Pokey for a meeting and said it reminded her of the Alaskan tundra with all the open country and the fall colors in the sage and rabbit bushes. I84 does have occasional winter problems over there with blowing snow, drifts and lousy visibility, but the weather reports are pretty accurate. Congrats on the new Ody! Steve, Host

erichl - I am glad to hear that you got a better deal than the one you got in Seattle. I did look at your previous post and mentioned it to the internet sales guy when he followed up with me(he was glad that he was getting seious buyers). It handled the mountain passes very easily, smooth drive and excellent handling. However, I had to take it off cruise while going over the mountain passes to handle the curves and also there was no snow when I drove it back to Oregon. I was determined to save as much money as I can, just to see how much I could save if I could take the extra effort and also I had a lot of vacation at work that I needed to burn off. I did not fly into Pocatello directly. I flew into Boise, ID one way trip (cost me $65). Then I took a rental car for a one way trip from Boise into Pocatello (cost me $75) + fuel costs($15) and had to fill up the gas one more time on my way back (cost me $34). The drive from Boise to Pocatello is about 3 hours (230 miles) but the drive was absolutely gorgeous and I think it was worth it. In total I drove for about 12 hours (3 hours getting into Pocatello & 9 hours driving back). My day started at 4 am on 11/12 and I reached home by 12:30 am 11/13(just after midnight). I had a lot more fun spending 20 hours outside of my office cubicle than working 10 hours in my office cubicle. This year there was not a lot of snow and I am not sure whether this would change in mid Dec. It's a personal choice whether you want to save an additional $300-$400. Some of my friends mentioned that if they were in my position they would not take the additional effort and rather pay additional $'s as they are already saving some money anyway .Also, make a note that you can go and look at the condition of the vehicle & test drive it. Not to mention, you can meet the people at the dealership face to face. I drove mostly on I84 and its a truck route. I am assuming by mid Dec there might be some snow but it will be cleared pretty quickly. If you want to drive back, you might want to carry some snow chains (just to be sure) or probably buy it at the dealership or ask them to give to you for free.

Used Odysseys get crazy money. Try asking over in Real-World Trade-In Values for yet another opinion. Browse the discussion a bit to get a feel for all the info you need to give Terry and the gang for a quick response. You may be happy with the number now, but there's no use leaving money on the table for the dealer if you can help it. Steve, Host
