'02 EXL-V6 sedan: by prophet2 on Wed Feb 06 16:46:12 PST 2002; $23,800 + tax (4.17%), doc fee ($227), and registration ($116). Appearance package (fender well/door moldings, mud guards, trunk tub, and wheel locks) @ $398 included. Trade-in of $3000 applied for net of $20,800. A fair offer for a '93 Integra LS Spec. Ed. w/121K on the clock and several instances of body repair. Well, what does one expect for having had a teen driver? TMV was $2600 trade, $3400 private party, $4200 retail. I have no time to try selling on my own. 4.9% financing from American Honda beat the credit union's 6.5%. Got the color wanted. Everybody wins on this deal.

I asked for the package here and got the mud-guards, fender-well trim, door-edge guards, and wheel locks. And a tub-liner tray for the cavity where the third-row bench seat folds down into. They charged $398.

Prices in Paradise: by prophet2 on Wed Apr 18 14:35:33 PDT 2001; Unlike most buyers who put up the $500 deposit and wait to be called when the ship docks, the Odyssey EX was waiting for me! My dealer got an "extra" allotment of five Odysseys after he sold the initial 18 within 1-1/2 days after landing. They're still getting at least 2K over MSRP (used to be 3-4K in the beginning). The other two also got extras, but the color choices varied. Went over on 4/01 to check on the choices and picked Granite Green after the test drive. Put down my $500 refundable deposit. Closed the deal on 4/14 for MSRP ($26,840) + TTL. Asked for and added a few trim items + extended warranty of 6 yrs./100K for $895. I'm in the insurance business and this was better (price and benefits) than other comparable plans I checked out before-hand: zero deduct + extra services. The dealer made some extra $$$ on the trim items, but so what? They're in business and didn't waste my time. Less than ten minutes in F&I signing documents and giving them the check. BTW, the car still had only 20 miles on the odometer, possibly five more after I put the deposit down. We're surrounded by the big, blue Pacific, so there's no driving over the state-line to find a "better" deal elsewhere. Our tax is around 4.17% (actually a 4% excise tax on businesses, not a true sales tax, so businesses pay tax on the tax). What is it in California, 8%?. If we try the Oregon manuever, Hawaii assesses our rate upon landing unless we can prove it's a USED car! My experience is that two of the dealers here would have priced me at MSRP, the other would have tried for $1K ADM (hey, that's $1.5K less than their usual on this vehicle) before relenting. I went this one because of past dealings and the availability of exactly what I was looking for. BOTTOM LINE: I'm happy and satisfied ..... and not with just the price!
