Bought: LX-P Auto Sedan 21,000 OTD
by dgreb on Fri Aug 14 11:32:44 PDT 2009
Purchased mine in Roswell,GA. I went in to buy a used 3yo, but the difference wasn't that much. I thought this wasn't a bad deal considering it was after the 1st week of clunkers. Also it was so late, the finance guy didn't have time to try to sell me anything! The car has grown on me and I really like the design. 19192.51 Car 599 Doc Fee 1187.49 Tax (6%) tilte $21 I hope that helps.
My experience thus far
by mishap on Sat Aug 08 13:33:36 PDT 2009
It's been rough going trying to pick up a Silver or Black '09 Sport Auto in Atlanta, GA w/ C4C. Curry - Low Inventory. Did a test drive on a white one which wasn't a top color choice but it was that or Orange or Blue. Dealer had the gall to start at $18,300 before adding on pinstripes/appearance($500?), window etching($200), and dealer fees. OTD was ~20k b/c they charged tax on everything which was incorrect but 19.7k would have still been too high. For some reason they really wanted to see the clunker title and put it into their system. Salesman called but I haven't responded since they never had the exact car I wanted. My family bought 3 Hondas from them too...won't be going back after that experience. Hennessy - Using info from the forum, I got an internet quote for 16.6k + TTL but w/ a disclaimer no C4C which worked out to 18k OTD. I asked for the C4C price and they went up to 17.8k+TTL w/ a higher than avg $587 dealer fees on top which = 19.4k OTD. Gwinnett Place - Gave us a price of 16.2k on a base auto including Dest(17.5k OTD) but wouldn't divulge a OTD price on a Sport Auto unless we brought in the clunker. Wouldn't even tell us if we could do better or worse than a Civic LX that was coming in under 18k OTD. Mall of Georgia - Asking MSRP+. Stopped answering their calls. Carey Paul - Forgot to write it down but wasn't compelled to drive out there so I think it wasn't too impressive. Cross shopping Yaris 5-door (Out of stock at Atlanta Toy, World, and Roswell), Nissan Versa (No SL's at Gwinnett Place = no $4,500 when trade in is a 18mpg Aerostar), and virtually anything else I can find in that price range at this point. The car is for my g/f and she values cuteness over practicality since I can get a well equipped Civic OTD for less. She's on a budget too which confounds things as well. Honestly the perfect car would be a base Fit (don't think she uses cruise at all) but paying 17.5k OTD on one is simply ridiculous. Traction control is a non-issue given its got ABS and I've never seen her overcook a corner. I don't think she even understood how the paddle shifters work given I can't convince her to learn to drive my manual G35 so the difference is simply cosmetic/convenience. I can add the spoiler and keyless for under $500 later. So if anyone knows a good dealer in the ATL area willing to to do under 17k OTD on a base Fit auto at this point would be greatly appreciated.
Honda Odyssey EXL with RES/DVD and NAVI
by upendrak on Thu Jul 09 23:03:35 PDT 2009
On Sunday (7/5), bought a new 2009 Honda Odyssey EXL with RES/DVD and NAVI from Honda Carland in Roswell, GA. Paid $33870 OTD (including all taxes and everything). We had just moved to GA state and needed a car on the same day. I used Auto Buying Program on Capital One website. They quoted around $32255 for purchase in GA state (near my zipcode) and provided me with guranteed price from 3 dealers. However on the day I wanted to buy, I walked into the closest dealership above (which was not participating in Capital One Auto Buying Program) and just asked for the price. Fortunately, this dealer had the color (Sterling Gray with gray leather) I was looking for. The buying process was not satisfactory. I asked if he would be willing to match the Capital One price. He said No and when I requested him to check with his manager, he was not willing to do so. However he did not want us to visit those (participating) Capital One Auto Buying program dealers and tried to convince us that they would charge us extra on top of our guaranteed price. I knew that as a non-participating dealer, he was not obligated to match the price. At that point, we decided to head back home and were thinking of other options (including Toyota, Routan or one month car rental and 2010 Odyssey..) and participating dealers did not have the color we were looking for with NAVI. As we needed a car on the same day, my wife decided to call him back and check if he would be willing to negotiate again and finally completed the deal with $31055 as price $599 as customer service charge $18 for tags and balance as GA State tax. (total $33890 OTD). The finance guy tried to offer me a lower rate at 2.9% but I decided to use my preapproved loan. I had a pre-approved Loan check @3.77APR from Capital One for 36 months. Used that for the entire amount (100% finance). After the earlier negotiation, I was not comfortable in accepting another lender. The salesman kept saying that he is making a loss on the deal. But isn't it better to recognize the lower loss now and sell the car than to take a $3000 loss once the 2010 model is in the market. I was surprised to see that the new Odyssey did have low quality floor mats with no Odyssey or Honda name embossed on it. Is this how Honda sells their cars?

My best price right now including destination is 17640 in Roswell, GA. Is this a good price? He mentioned something about including the 100k certified warranty as well. I definetly want to confirm that.
2008 EX-L Coupe
by donsur on Tue Jul 01 13:28:39 PDT 2008
I bought a new 2008 Civic EX-L - black with gray interior from Honda Carland in Roswell Ga on June 6, 2008. I paid $20,200 for it. This dealer only had one Civic coupe with leather and this was it. Turns out that it was exactly what I was looking for. I also looked at the VW Jetta but I had a hard time communcating with that dealer. They were very stuffy. Everytime I asked them for a price, they kept saying well how much do you want to pay? Not very friendly. At Honda Carland, the sales associate communcated with me via email several times and when I went to the dealer he had everything lined up for me to see. I hate buying new cars, but this was very painless. I was there less than 2 hours total. I think I paid just where the price should be for a scarce leather coupe. Other dealers in the area didn't have any and searching the Honda Carland computer showed none available in the southeast. What do you folks think, did I do OK?
EX-L w/o RES or NAV purchased in Atlanta suburb
by steviec on Fri Sep 28 18:20:25 PDT 2007
I really wanted a 2007 Pilot, but procrastinated and waited too long. None left for about a month at least in the Atlanta market. Supposedly Honda was offering $3,500 to move the remaining few before really introducing the 2008. So, while viewing the Atlanta Honda dealers' inventory quick to notice that each dealer has rows-and-rows of Odysseys. Never thought we'd buy a minivan but we did on 9/25. Think we got a good deal. I did my research on the Internet first securing invoice price, available incentives and the discussion forums were extremely helpful. But I guess I'm old school. I did not go the route of sending e-mails to dealers to get quotes as so many of you have. I first went to several area dealers while they were closed just to get an idea of available inventory, colors, sticker prices, add-ons etc. Then, after doing all my research on the Internet, took paperwork with me and headed to three dealerships: one on Cobb Parkway, one in Roswell, and one in Woodstock. My wife wanted the 2007 EX-L, Ocean Mist (light blue) comes with gray / charcoal leather interior. MSRP + destination was $31,690. Two of the dealerships had a separate box for "appearance package" for pinstriping, mud guards etc. Additional price varied by the features offered. One dealer had the exact same vehicle with pinstriping and mud guards but w/out the extra charge. I basically worked backwards from the published invoice price of $28,159 for the EX-L plus $635 destination charge. Took $2,000 mfg's incentive off this cost. Also deducted 2% dealer holdback which most dealers will assume they will secure from the manufacture (not sure how this works really but took this off anyway). That left me at a max price to consider paying of $26,260 +/-. I then took-off another $1,000 because: tons of Odysseys at most dealerships in the Atlanta area so thinking dealers are wanting to negotiate and it was the end of the year and the end of the month. Summing, right or wrong, I went in to the Atlanta area dealerships to negotiate for a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L with mud guards and pinstriping for $25,260 including destination charge but knew it would be extra for sales tax (6%), tags, title. I came close to this: here's what we paid for a 2007 Odyssey EX-L, Ocean Mist with all the standard equipment plus mud guards and pinstriping. That's all we wanted. base price: $25,950. + customer service fee: $499. x 6.0 % Cobb Coounty sales tax = $28,036. + GA warranty right fee: $3.00 + title charge: $18.00 = $28,057 OTD After negotiating the base price and agreeing to pay the customer service fee, we then negotiated a trade-in value on our SUV separately. I knew I could have sold it privately for more but it was convenient, they gave me a decent trade-in price and it reduced my sales tax exposure. Financing through our credit union at 5.7% for 48 months. My purchasing experience with this particular dealer was excellent. I felt like I got a very good deal (emphasis on "felt like"), got a decent trade-in value, and it didn't take forever. Took a total of 3 hours from the time I walked in their dealership. Business manager didn't attempt to strong-arm me with all the service options. He tried for a minute but I just kept saying no. I can recommend a very good salesman separately. The key obviously as everyone knows is to do your homework on the Internet first. I took what I learned from one negotiation session at one dealer to the next and built on that. For example, the first dealer I visited mentioned the 2% holdback. I didn't bring it up. I used that bit of info at the next dealer I visited. At least for the 2007 Odyssey, all prospective buyers are clearly in the driver's seat. No better time to buy one than now.
