Re: EX-L initial quotes coming in (all OTD) with huge variation [cargirl9]
by cillakat on Wed Sep 19 11:25:02 PDT 2007
"My 25,500 guy says that that was last weeks price - this week it's $1000 more. " I'd take the email and call the sales manager. Pretend like you didn't even talk to the guy. Let him know you're coming in today (ifyou are) but you just wanted to confirm the deal before driving over. Tell him, the base, then add on *specifically*, the taxes, title and fees for your area for a grand OTD price of 'x'. If so, then you're set. If not, then tell him, hmmm, I thought that was too good to be true, Ask him is he could email you the best base they can do, and detail all other fees, noting and guaranteeing and OTD number. Ii bet he thought he could slip dest&doc fees in there to makeup the grand. I just wasn't seeing how they could do 25,500. I can't find anyone that has gotten that when i've board searched. How many dealers are you talking too? Yesterday, when i went too low (probably b/c i was comparing a 4% sales tax price to my 7% sales tax) and pissed ppl off, i just went to the honda website and sent out a bunch more quote requests to another 13 dealers. There have to be a *ton* where you are. My email last night said this: We're ready to pull the trigger on a new 2007 Odyssey. White with tan/ivory leather. tFinancing is set. No trade in. I'd like to be at 27,800 OTD (including every imaginable fee and tax as well as including the carpet mats, the mud guards and the cargo liner). I'm looking for the most competitive compelling quote that beats, gets to, or is closest to the target and will call immediately with a deposit to hold the vehicle - coming in later in the day to sign the papers. Please email 1)the very best price you can do 2)confirmation that you have the white ex-l in stock I heard back at quarter to 8 from the guy who got the deal. He came in $40 lower than my other person from the first slew of emails. i called him right away, said let's go, please confirm in a new email that you have the white ex-l 2007 ody in stock and that your otd price is 'x' and please breakdown each fee. He responded with that and the stock and VIN. Then as I was getting a million other responses, all much higher, more in line with my first set of numbers. I just quickly shot them emails saying "we've already pulled the trigger at 27,792......however, if something doesn't work out, we'll let you know". Four ppl emailed back saying they would match, two of them requesting the written email (i gave it to them), one beating the 27.792 price by $70 Do you have a larger pool of dealers you can pull from? In my first slew of emails, i wrote back and made the mistake of going so low that literally no one responded, except two of them out of frustration saying that NO WAY could they go lower than they already did, and that if i had that deal (27315) I should take it b/c the dealership was paying me to take it away. It was then that I started a new pool with the 27.8 number. I think it would be reasonable to shoot off a quick email to 10 dealers in your area saying what I said above...you're "ready to move today, trying to get to 27,800 or as close as possible...we'll call immediately with a deposit for 1)the most competitive compelling quote that can detail base, all fees, TTL and give you a clear guaranteed OTD number. and 2)has 'x' color in stock. Let me know if you'd like to sell a car today. Hope to work with you soon." someone will come back with something good:) K here were my original otd numbers (atlanta, ga or metro area 7% sales tax) 27,946. willet (stated cargo, muds, wheel locks, mats from first email 28.0something curry 28,071 hennesy (they responded with frustration to my 2nd email asking them to come down) 28,645 edvoyles a few in between here......gwinnet was one....they were irritated also that I wanted to come down. 29,130 conyers (they actually emailed me during this am's deal...i told them it was done, they did price match. they're closer but i wanted to honor the deal) 29,639 albany 29,874 carey paul 29,550 nalley (first time i heard from them) 30,085 nalley (second time i heard from them)

Re: SC Odyssey EXL-RES Price? [ntruroman]
by uncgal on Mon Nov 13 08:50:10 PST 2006
I am in Augusta, GA and after looking around in Atlanta (Conyers Honda had best price, just too far to go) and Aiken, SC we just got a 2007 EX-L without RES or NAV for $30,600 out the door (including tax, fees, title, etc) from Gerald Jones Honda. That is 7% tax here. We are somewhat disappointed in the gas mileage though. No real data yet but it obviously sucks... We are used to a Volvo sedan so we are holding our breath while we watch the needle go down..we may even get rid of the thing already. Don't even have tags yet. We didn't get RES because our kids fight over what to watch so we figured we'd just hook up 2 separate DVD players. Hope you get what you want!!
Re: Good dealer in Atlanta area? [barbbarb]
by mseenviro on Wed Aug 09 06:57:10 PDT 2006
Barbbarb, I recently shopped dealers in a large area including Atlanta for my Honda Pilot. I contacted Conyers Honda and Tean Honda and received prompt responses from both. Conyers Honda kept pushing me to come in saying they would beat any quote by $200, but wouldn't give me a number. I told them for me to drive 200 miles I had to have a number, and a good one at that. I also found several dealers in the Knoxville, TN area that were good; Westside Honda, Airport Honda, and Rusty Wallace Honda were all easy to deal with. Westside offered the best price in that area. Phil Bachman Honda in Kingsport beat all of them. I suspect I could have driven to Atlanta and gotten them to beat the price I got at Phil Bachman ($26,300 for a 4wd EX-L) but I doubt it would have covered the gas or my time. Dealers seem to be in the mood to deal, so get a good offer and them play the dealers off against each other. Eventually one will rise to the top and the others will fall off. I had four different dealers tell me that I should purchase it from the other dealer if they would sell it to me at $26,300, which they did. Good Luck.
2006 EX-L Price Paid in Atlanta, GA
by buffalobull35 on Fri Apr 28 16:47:49 PDT 2006
Dealer was very aggressive in getting by business (conyers, GA). Great Professionalism, great service, great Deal! Out the door $31,500.00 for a 2006 EX-L demo with less than 4000 miles. This included all taxes, fees, tags, destination, etc. I haggled the old fashioned way for them to throw in the crossbars and a trailer hitch & coolers for free and they reluctantly agreed. Also agreed to provide complimentary oil change services.
Atlanta 7/22/04. Accord V6 Sedan. Reverse Auction
by mrmwave on Sat Jul 24 04:03:34 PDT 2004
In a four day reverse auction, the lowest Atlanta area price received was $304 below published dealer cost. It resulted from a combination of email attack a la Musicboy msg #3825; then three rounds of phone negotiations. The winning bid was taken in the auction's last few minutes. The car sought was an ’04 Accord Sedan V6. First choice color was gray, with two second choices—silver and white. Included in the bid request were two dealer added options—day/night mirror and cargo net; with any other dealer added options at no additional charge. As isellhonda suggested in his/her recent post, inventory indeed seems to be tightening. Few dealers had color choice one in stock—although almost all dealers had color choices two and three in abundance. On the auction’s fourth and last evening, we decided to go with the second choice color at the lowest price offered. I made a 10:00 AM appointment for the next morning to buy the car. Thursday morning, a few minutes before I was due to leave the house, Gwinnett Place Honda called. I said that I was leaving shortly to buy color choice two at $25,100 up in Woodstock, even though I had a firm bid of $25,527 for color choice one out in Conyers. This motivated the Gwinnett Place Honda salesman. He sensed a sale, and it wasn’t going to be his. “So” he said “What are we talking here, somewhere in the middle?” “Yes” I said. “Don’t move” he said “I’ll call you back ASAP.” A few minutes later he called back. “$23,350, ok?” he said. “Done” I replied. The buy process at Gwinnett Place Honda was smooth, except that they required that I sign a privacy notice authorizing them to do a credit check. “This is a cash deal” I said “No credit check”. “Too bad” the manager replied. No signature, no deal. “But I’m from Arkansas, and when I give my word I keep it. No credit check will be performed.” This guy missed his calling—he should have gone into politics <grin>. I signed the form, and was in and out in an hour and fifteen minutes. The OTD price breakdown: Price with freight $22,897 Accessories 393 Taxable sub-total 23,290 Tax 1,630 Sub-Total with tax 24,920 Doc Fee 399 GA state fees 31 TOTAL: $25,350 Included at no charge was the $549 Paint Protection Package. According to published information, the dealer cost on the vehicle is $22,951: $24,243 invoice with freight less $792 holdback (3% of $26,400 MSRP) less $500 manufacturer to dealer incentive. After considerable effort, I paid $22, 897--fifty-four dollars below published dealer cost. With a margin of better than 100% on the two dealer added accessories and the $399 Doc fee that almost all Atlanta area dealers charge, I'm confident that Gwinnett Place Honda found some profit somewhere in the deal--or else they wouldn't have done it. Too, had I more flexibility about color, I had a legitimate offer to buy the car this week for $250 less up in Woodstock.
