LX Purchase - HCW decision by pdiamond on Mon Apr 02 09:49:47 PDT 2001

Picked up our SS LX on Sat. We absolutely love it! Kids think it is ultimate cool to be able to close the doors while sitting in their seats. My wife is so happy to have replaced our 94 Voyager, which in truth was a good vehicle with no major problems & good gas mileage. Paid MSRP in WI, w/ discounted options (CD, keyless, cargo tray and splashguards. Excellent treatment, dealt with internet mgr. and spent less than 2 hours at the dealer. The Silver is an amazing color, my dad is so jealous (loves his '99 CSS LX, but really wanted this color). Best part about it was the wait: Ordered 3/14, VIN# 3/21, arrived 3/27, took delivery 3/31! My question regarding the Hondacare warranty is this: Is it worth it for the LX? The dealer offered $855+tax for 7/100/0 HC, and I deferred, knowing I'd look at mileage and characteristics in the first 6-9 months before deciding. Price was the best I'd seen this side of Alton Blakely, and telling them of that price enabled them to offer it. FWIW, Finance guy told me that $855 is 'Cost + $30.' Thanks to all of who post on this and related Odyssey sites-it helped tremendously in convincing me that $25K for an Ody LX beats a discounted DGC for a slightly less price for our family.

#805 of 812 Alton Blakely Honda 1000 below MSRP? by temp_atl Feb 06, 2001 (06:20 am) by dj5 on Wed Feb 07 07:53:57 PST 2001

To temp_atl My drive out price from Alton Blakley was $25,840 (plus tax and tag that you pay for in GA) and did not include the $500 deposit. Our discount was $1000 below MSRP with no forced dealer add-ons. I understand from someone else who contacted Alton Blakley that they are now only offering a discount of $500 below MSRP ($25,340). I talked directly to the sales manager (don't have his name at hand, but can get you his e-mail and name)when making my deal and Barry Flatt handled the paperwork. You are correct, I did not buy the extended warranty. In my opionion, extended warranties have always been a waste of money. But I can understand why some would want the piece of mind by buying. Didn't even ask the fiance guy about it so I don't know what Alton Blakey would charge. We rented a one way from National Cars. With my corporate discount the rental fee was $89. I picked up the car at Atlanta Hartsfield and dropped it off at the Knoxville airport on our way back. Knoxville was the closest place to drop a one way rental and was about 100 miles from the dealership. Let me know if you desire any additonal information and would be glad to provide you with my e-mail if you want any additional information.
