Hello, I'm right up above you in the Upstate. A colleague at work commented recently about Phil Hughes Honda over in Athens, GA. They beat out the Upstate dealers on price and he was very satisfied with the experience. He's pretty sharp with money and I know that he did his homework. Most Hondas around here come from Piedmont in Anderson or Breakaway in Greenville. I've never heard anything really bad about either but I don't know how they are on price. I had an 89 Accord many years ago and used Piedmont and Vic Bailey in Spartanburg for service and was happy with both. Someone mentioned East Coast in Myrtle Beach. I believe that they are owned by the same people as Piedmont in Anderson. not positive though. As far as small towns go, in my experience there has been a lot less sales pressure. My worst experiences have been in the bigger towns. The two places I visited a few years ago in Atlanta were snake pits; I wouldn't go back to either if they were $3000 less. IF you do your homework, you will get a good deal most anywhere. The big difference in my opinion is the culture of the dealership and the BS you have to endure to get there. In 1996, my FIL bought my SIL a new Accord. There was a $200 difference between the Florence dealer and the Bennettsville dealer. (Bennettsville is tiny. They must have had the franchise since the 70's. Smallest town to have a Honda dealer that I have ever come across.) Let us know what you find out. I don't have a local dealer here. GSP, Anderson, Augusta, Columbia, and Athens are all about the same distance away from home. I might be in the market for an Accord next year and would be interested in what you find.
EX-L Res in Georgia
by purpleurchin on Wed Dec 13 08:20:45 PST 2006
Been lurking for a while and found information on this site very helpful. Thanks. Purchased '07 EX-L Res on Saturday December 2nd and thought I would contribute my buying experience. I called Gerald Jones Honda (Augusta, GA) on a Saturday morning (Dec. 2nd). The internet salesperson was not working so I asked to speak with a sales manager. I told him that I was ready to buy and, if the price was right on an EX-L (blue or red, no Res, no Nav), I would be there within the hour. We agreed on $28,500 (incl. dest. charge, mud guards, fenderwell trim, cargo tray) + $295 doc fee + TTL for an EX-L in black (they did not have red or blue in stock). I thought this was a fair price if we could do the deal without the drama or games. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was really dealing with a sales manager. He gave me the keys, I took it for a ride, and they valued my trade-in ('00 Volvo V70XC). Unfortunately, there was a paint blemish on the front right quarter panel of the EX-L (I don't think I would have seen it if the sun wasn't shining on it), which looked like a circular burn pattern from a buffing wheel. They tried to fix it, and it looked better, but if you knew it was there you could still see it. I told the SM that I would not buy the black EX-L and politely reminded him that once I walk out I will be calling other Honda dealers and may not come back. We walked around the lot and saw an EX-L Res in blue (Ocean Mist), which he offered for $29,500 (minus the extras). I spoke with my wife and within 10 minutes the SM and I agreed on $29,500 (incl. dest. fee, mud guards, fenderwell trim, cargo tray) + $295 doc fee + TTL and that he gives me an additional $500 for the Volvo (he balked at the extra $500 when we were discussing the first Ody). We also got the 4.9% Honda financing that ended Dec. 4th. The SM had one of the salesman do the paperwork and, from start to finish, I was at the dealership for about 3 hours (which includes the false start on the black EX-L and several short waits while the SM did his day job with the regular salespeople). Overall, surprisingly pleasant, straight-forward, and relatively painless experience.
Re: SC Odyssey EXL-RES Price? [ntruroman]
by uncgal on Mon Nov 13 08:50:10 PST 2006
I am in Augusta, GA and after looking around in Atlanta (Conyers Honda had best price, just too far to go) and Aiken, SC we just got a 2007 EX-L without RES or NAV for $30,600 out the door (including tax, fees, title, etc) from Gerald Jones Honda. That is 7% tax here. We are somewhat disappointed in the gas mileage though. No real data yet but it obviously sucks... We are used to a Volvo sedan so we are holding our breath while we watch the needle go down..we may even get rid of the thing already. Don't even have tags yet. We didn't get RES because our kids fight over what to watch so we figured we'd just hook up 2 separate DVD players. Hope you get what you want!!
Price for CRV-EX?
by junco1 on Wed Apr 21 14:13:38 PDT 2004
A dealer here in Georgia has offered me a price of $22000 plus TTT for a CRV-EX. Total price would be $23668 since we have a 7% tax here and I am not trading in my old Subaru. That is almost $1900 off the sticker price. Any suggestions? Thanks, Junco1
