Hello, I'm right up above you in the Upstate. A colleague at work commented recently about Phil Hughes Honda over in Athens, GA. They beat out the Upstate dealers on price and he was very satisfied with the experience. He's pretty sharp with money and I know that he did his homework. Most Hondas around here come from Piedmont in Anderson or Breakaway in Greenville. I've never heard anything really bad about either but I don't know how they are on price. I had an 89 Accord many years ago and used Piedmont and Vic Bailey in Spartanburg for service and was happy with both. Someone mentioned East Coast in Myrtle Beach. I believe that they are owned by the same people as Piedmont in Anderson. not positive though. As far as small towns go, in my experience there has been a lot less sales pressure. My worst experiences have been in the bigger towns. The two places I visited a few years ago in Atlanta were snake pits; I wouldn't go back to either if they were $3000 less. IF you do your homework, you will get a good deal most anywhere. The big difference in my opinion is the culture of the dealership and the BS you have to endure to get there. In 1996, my FIL bought my SIL a new Accord. There was a $200 difference between the Florence dealer and the Bennettsville dealer. (Bennettsville is tiny. They must have had the franchise since the 70's. Smallest town to have a Honda dealer that I have ever come across.) Let us know what you find out. I don't have a local dealer here. GSP, Anderson, Augusta, Columbia, and Athens are all about the same distance away from home. I might be in the market for an Accord next year and would be interested in what you find.

>But you can never trust a Car Dealer inspite of having email confirmation. They can always throw a curve ball Only way is to walk into the dealership and be ready to walk out if they throw a surprise Ahh yes. My first Corvette purchase, in 1999 when they were still selling very near sticker ($500-$1000 off depending on the car) in my hometown. Maxi Price in Athens Ga (2 hours away) quoted me $2k off sticker. I drove there, found a car. Started to sign the paperwork and there was the $489 doc fee!!! I ended up taking the hit. I still saved a LITTLE bit of money, and they had the car I wanted and I was two hours from home. But, I didn't buy either of my next two Corvettes from them... Definitely can't bank on anything until you walk out the door. On the other hand, my second Corvette was purchased on the internet, from a dealer in Michigan and shipped to my home. That was Les Stanford Chevrolet. There wasn't so much as a hiccup on that deal. So who knows... just be ready for anything.

I bought a Billet Silver RL this week in Athens, GA. No moon roof or navagation. I paid $24,950 difference, and traded a 1998 GMC Sonoma 3 door, High Rider with 59,000 miles. The dealer added a bed extender to close the deal. I visited two Honda delerships (Gainesville, GA and Athens, GA) and was very pleased both salesmen. I enjoy this forum very much. Thank you all for your input.

I am in the Atl area too and will be buying an Odyssey sometime in the future. I have been watching these boards for some time, and have not heard too many stories of folks getting decent prices in Atlanta (decent meaning around MSRP), MTEMPEL1 being an exception (and good for you, MTEMPEL1!). I believe there are some dealers within a few hours drive that people have gotten MSRP or lower. You might do some further investigating before you buy here in Atlanta. Personally, i will be willing to drive 3-4 hours to save $1500! I think i've seen the Honda dealer in Athens GA advertising in the AJC for around MSRP -- and that's only an hour away. As for waiting, we are waiting a bit (til next spring), hoping that the increased production from the Alabama plan will cause prices to drop. Probably a bigger factor though (IMO) is whether the economy continues to do poorly, which nobody can predict. Good luck, Please post anything you find out for us other poor Atlantans.

Try Albany Honda in Albany, GA. They have a Mesa Beige EX coming in Dec. 20th that they claim will be at 26,840 plus tax etc. They do charge a handling fee of like $99. But it seems like everyone charge for that. The sales guy who sent me the e-mail is named Graham Edwards. You can reach him at albanyhonda@mindspring.com. I'm getting mine from Kurt at Athens Honda. Should take delivery early next week. I'll let you know if it works out okay.

I am in Athens, GA. and waiting for my SS EX-NAV. I ordered it on Sept 8 (build date is 11/26/00) through Phil Hughes Honda in Athens at MSRP. I called him recently and he mentioned he would get some LX in Nov., EX in Dec. EX-NAV in Jan. Hope this help.
