Re: Price in San Francisco [isellhondas]

I JUST bought a 2008 Fit Sport AT-Storm Silver.. and here is the deal I squeeked out (Honda of Albany, NY): $16,505.00 with destination, and All-weather Mats (but only because the Internet Manager didn't tell the sales manager they were already in the car!) Fit Sports only have about $500 max. of total play room on the price to begin with.. so you wont find much out there.... most dealers in Upstate NY are selling at MSRP, especially since gas is $3.20+ here Enjoy.. The Fit is GO!!
Re: EX-L initial quotes coming in (all OTD) with huge variation [cargirl9]

"My 25,500 guy says that that was last weeks price - this week it's $1000 more. " I'd take the email and call the sales manager. Pretend like you didn't even talk to the guy. Let him know you're coming in today (ifyou are) but you just wanted to confirm the deal before driving over. Tell him, the base, then add on *specifically*, the taxes, title and fees for your area for a grand OTD price of 'x'. If so, then you're set. If not, then tell him, hmmm, I thought that was too good to be true, Ask him is he could email you the best base they can do, and detail all other fees, noting and guaranteeing and OTD number. Ii bet he thought he could slip dest&doc fees in there to makeup the grand. I just wasn't seeing how they could do 25,500. I can't find anyone that has gotten that when i've board searched. How many dealers are you talking too? Yesterday, when i went too low (probably b/c i was comparing a 4% sales tax price to my 7% sales tax) and pissed ppl off, i just went to the honda website and sent out a bunch more quote requests to another 13 dealers. There have to be a *ton* where you are. My email last night said this: We're ready to pull the trigger on a new 2007 Odyssey. White with tan/ivory leather. tFinancing is set. No trade in. I'd like to be at 27,800 OTD (including every imaginable fee and tax as well as including the carpet mats, the mud guards and the cargo liner). I'm looking for the most competitive compelling quote that beats, gets to, or is closest to the target and will call immediately with a deposit to hold the vehicle - coming in later in the day to sign the papers. Please email 1)the very best price you can do 2)confirmation that you have the white ex-l in stock I heard back at quarter to 8 from the guy who got the deal. He came in $40 lower than my other person from the first slew of emails. i called him right away, said let's go, please confirm in a new email that you have the white ex-l 2007 ody in stock and that your otd price is 'x' and please breakdown each fee. He responded with that and the stock and VIN. Then as I was getting a million other responses, all much higher, more in line with my first set of numbers. I just quickly shot them emails saying "we've already pulled the trigger at 27,792......however, if something doesn't work out, we'll let you know". Four ppl emailed back saying they would match, two of them requesting the written email (i gave it to them), one beating the 27.792 price by $70 Do you have a larger pool of dealers you can pull from? In my first slew of emails, i wrote back and made the mistake of going so low that literally no one responded, except two of them out of frustration saying that NO WAY could they go lower than they already did, and that if i had that deal (27315) I should take it b/c the dealership was paying me to take it away. It was then that I started a new pool with the 27.8 number. I think it would be reasonable to shoot off a quick email to 10 dealers in your area saying what I said above...you're "ready to move today, trying to get to 27,800 or as close as possible...we'll call immediately with a deposit for 1)the most competitive compelling quote that can detail base, all fees, TTL and give you a clear guaranteed OTD number. and 2)has 'x' color in stock. Let me know if you'd like to sell a car today. Hope to work with you soon." someone will come back with something good:) K here were my original otd numbers (atlanta, ga or metro area 7% sales tax) 27,946. willet (stated cargo, muds, wheel locks, mats from first email 28.0something curry 28,071 hennesy (they responded with frustration to my 2nd email asking them to come down) 28,645 edvoyles a few in between here......gwinnet was one....they were irritated also that I wanted to come down. 29,130 conyers (they actually emailed me during this am's deal...i told them it was done, they did price match. they're closer but i wanted to honor the deal) 29,639 albany 29,874 carey paul 29,550 nalley (first time i heard from them) 30,085 nalley (second time i heard from them)
Re: Hybrids and common sense. [warner]

The price for gas in my area (upstate NY, Albany area) is currently at $2.59 per gallon and is continuing to climb even though by oil company standars, it has been a mild winter so far. I wont get into the rising gas price debate at this time, even though it is BS that gas prices are on the rise again. Your math at $2.19 per gallon makes it seem like the hybrid may not be a good investment or return on your money, but gas prices are HIGH and will probably stay high. Currently I am averaging 44.7 MPG (combined city / hwy) on my HCH with 1200 miles on it. I can say, it sure is nice to not even consider filling up the car until I reach 550 miles of driving. As mentioned, I have only 1200 miles on the car and have only filled it up twice. At last fill up the computer was showing average mpg to be 41.4 mpg but when I did the simple math it came out to 44.7 mpg.

Ddelise, As per my prior post, the deal at Nally in Brunswick is no longer valid. Sorry about that. If you go the Sienna route, the best place I found was Fairway Toyota in Albany. Their quote was around the carsdirect invoice for an 05 Sienna (LTD and XLE) and they told me they could get it without the Toyoguard. If I went for an 05 (as opposed to the 04 I bought), I would have bought via their internet dept. Good luck. Dex
Buying in GA or north FL
by dex on Wed Oct 27 07:11:47 PDT 2004
I have been going back and forth between the Ody Touring and the Sienna LTD for some time now and have changed my mind countless times. I finally bought a 04 Sienna LTD last night. If the Touring did not have PAX or if the EX/L had a power tailgate, I would have bought the Ody. Nonetheless, I want to share my findings for anyone who is looking to buy an Ody or Sienna in GA or north FL. I did most of the leg work via e-mail but found that you have to prod and have a few iterations before you get a solid price Please note that the doc fee at the dealers below is around $400 which is typical for GA. Also all my dealings were with the internet dept at the dealers I mention below and none of them pushed me to buy any accessories. Sienna. In the southeast, most dealers have what is known as Toyoguard which is an utter waste of money and retails at around $699. I bought my 04 Sienna FWD LTD from the internet person at Cherokee County Toyota for a few hundred under invoice (invoice is around $32.2k for the 04)+ doc + tt. It was painless and a pleasure to deal with them. The great thing about them is that none of their vans have this Toyoguard which brings the price down. If I was willing to drive about 3 /1/2 hours south of Atlanta to Albany, GA, the best deal all round was at Fairway Toyota via their internet dept. They only have 05 Siennas and will sell them very close to invoice (invoice is around $32.6k as per carsdirect). They were very responsive via e-mail and I would have bought from them if I went the 05 route. They do have some of their Siennas without Toyoguard which is great. Definitely the best deal in GA for an 05. Ody Metro Atlanta is not great and you get a few paltry dollars below MSRP. However there is a dealer in GA that smokes the other dealers. If one is prepared to travel south a little over 4 hours from Atlanta to Brunswick (the dealer there is Nalley Honda), they will sell the 05 Ody at around $1800-1900 below MSRP via their internet dept. The internet person was great and I would most definitely have bought my Ody from them if I landed up going for an Ody. He gave the facts as they were as objectively as any dealer I have ever dealt with. He also offered to drive the Ody to me in Atlanta. If you are buying in GA or north FL, definitely check them out. I would have flown there on Delta from Atlanta for a little over $100 and then driven the car back. Financing CostCo rocks. Thru their auto program they hooked me up with Capital One and I got a rate of 2.64%. There were 3 provisions: It needed to be a 3 year or less term, I needed to do direct debit out of my account and there was a one time $65 fee. I took this out about 2 1/2 months ago and they granted me one extension at the same rate. Not sure what the rate is now. Auto Ins Again, for me CostCo Ins program hooked me up with Amex Ins and I did my home and car thru them and the rate was great. Bottom line after all my research is that if one does not care about the power tailgate, I think the best buy is definitely the Ody EX/L or EX if you do not like leather. However if the power tailgate is a must and you are not crazy about PAX, then, welcome to my world !!

Try Albany Honda in Albany, GA. They have a Mesa Beige EX coming in Dec. 20th that they claim will be at 26,840 plus tax etc. They do charge a handling fee of like $99. But it seems like everyone charge for that. The sales guy who sent me the e-mail is named Graham Edwards. You can reach him at albanyhonda@mindspring.com. I'm getting mine from Kurt at Athens Honda. Should take delivery early next week. I'll let you know if it works out okay.
