CRV Buying Experience in FL
by sailormb on Sun May 27 10:44:41 PDT 2007
After emailing a salesman for over a week, and speaking to him on the phone regarding the purchase of a 2007 Honda Crv Ex, I made an appointment to see him about the "out the door" offer of $22,900 which he presented. Driving 1 1/2 hours to the location, I was met with great disappointment as he now insisted he made an error in his offer and that the car would not be available for such a cost and that now it would be $24,100! The "next manager" was asked to address his problem and basically stood behind him stating, "internet quotes" may change. This is bad buisness folks, plain and simple, false advertising. I had full intentions on purchasing said vehicle and did not, at least not from this dealership. When I got home, I had a phone message stating the salesman wanted to at least give me a $100.00 gas credit for driving up; which of course he did not do. All in all, the experience of dealing with Autoway Honda of Clearwater was very sour. I then carried my business an hour south to Port Charlotte Honda; which was a very pleasant experience from beginning to end. I'm a new car buyer with a happy ending; thank you Port Charlotte Honda! The sadest part of this whole experience is that I have a Honda Dealership less than a mile from my house that would not even entertain "decent" prices! Not even when price quotes were produced from other dealerships! They began with MSRP and went up from there! Obviously, Sun Honda in Sarasota is not someone I'd recommend dealing with.

Welcome to the Club!! I am here in Sarasota/Bradenton and am finding the same problem. I am looking for the EX - AWD, and the best deal I get is MSRP. Also, you know about the doc fees. My dealer wants $399 just to buy the car from him. How do you handle that? PLEASE, PLEASE keep me posted on your progress as I also would not mind traveling to close a deal!!
Price Paid for 2006 Honda Pilot 2WD EX-L w/DVD (RES)
by rsf on Sat Apr 15 19:52:01 PDT 2006
Just picked up a beautiful 2006 Pilot 2WD EX-L w/DVD (RES) Redrock Pearl with leather interior for $28,800 plus TTL and dealer fee of $599. I couldn't knock down the dealer fee, but was able to knock down the price significantly. I started negotiations at $29,000. Live in the Tampa, FL area for those who are wondering. Paid cash. Very happy with my experience! :D

Invoice for 2006 Pilot EX-L 2WD vs 4WD w/DVD - SW FLA
by rsf on Mon Mar 20 17:06:25 PST 2006
What is the invoice price for the 2006 Pilot EX-L 2WD w/DVD compared to the 2006 Pilot EX-L 4WD w/DVD? Is the dealer holdback 3.2%? Any other incentives? Are the 2WD more or less difficult to find than the 4WD? In Southwest Florida (Tampa Bay Area), which dealers are easy to work with? Anyone here getting below invoice? Thanks guys!! :)

Since I live in Florida I know what I am talking about... The cost of these cars to all dealers are the same ...period! It doesn't matter if your in Florida or California.....some states regulate on how much doc fee can be charged....Florida is just not one of them.....I use to live in Chicago for 3 years and have bought multiple cars there as well as here....the solution is so simple.....do your homework....in the end it all works out....But I will tell you this.....if you visit the many different forums on this website, for all of the make and models, you will see people are flocking to Florida to buy cars....especially Luxury line cars.....if you don't believe me take at look at the Lexus and Acura forums....and if the people that are coming here to buy cars didn't think it was worth it....then why are they coming.....it's easy....PRICE! Many people are buying cars down here....buying a $49 dollar airline ticket on Southwest airlines.....and driving home in their new cars....there must be a reason for this? The two other parts of this country people flock to when buying a car is California and NJ.....why? Price....it's not rocket science....is it really worth the travel to save xxxx amount of dollars....and to some the answer is yes.....to prove my point....stroll over to the Lexus IS350 forum....someone who lives in Bellvue, Washington purchase a car from a Sarasota, FLorida dealer and is having it shipped to Washington....even with the additional shipping costs...he is still saving $1500 bucks! Is it worth it? It is to him....bottom line....different strokes for different folks!
