The break down is accurate, but I'm in Florida, home of the $699 "dealer fee". I can't answer for the CT fees, whether they are legit or not in your state. But here in Florida VIN etch is almost 100% dealer padded profit and I'd never buy a vehicle with that. In my state the fees are added before tax. The only things after tax are the state fees for registration.

Hi Witenko, I'm in Orlando FL and I'm trying to your OTD price. That is awesome, only difference for me is i'm at 6.5% sales tax. Could you tell me the name of your sales person and what dealership? Thanks.

My suggestion to all. Spend a little bit of money and invest in the new car buying program at Consumer Reports. It will show you how much the dealer truly paid and what your starting point in the bargaining process should be. I originally involved a broker that was recommended by two co-workers claiming only to make $500 above invoice. I called him on Consumer Reports info and he never returned my calls after that. I emailed 27 dealers from Key Largo to Orlando, FL from American Honda's website and just kept changing my zip code (just hit browser's back button). Stick to your guns because a slow dealer will call you to get rid of their 2008 inventory and give them a number you don't mind getting harassed on. I specified email only, but they still filled the mailbox on the extra cell phone number I have for kids' needs. I got an honest offer of $22,000.00 including tax, and tag transfer for a 2008 Si Sedan M/T with summer tires. Another dealer that promised to beat any price changed their story when I showed up with email quotes. So typical. They allowed me to drive away, and I told them to hold onto their car that had been on the lot for 4 months over the $400 difference for the summer tires they gave as a reason not to match price. I was three miles into my 103 mile jaunt to the honest original dealer when the manager of the dealer I just left called me back. Don't play into their games! The $22k price was $1095.00 cheaper than the broker' s. Know your stuff before speaking to anyone in person

You are funny and must be picky who you sell to. Quoted from my salesperson "If I don't sell to you someone else will." (assuming numbers are within means). They had 112 Odysseys on the lot and the salesperson even told me they were not selling too well. A friend of mine purchased the same exact configuration as mine and paid 3k more than I did but him and the salesman (a friend at church) were both happy with the deal at the end so be it. These are the kind of customers that salesmen love.

Give me a break if you want to believe that a reputable dealer will sell to EVERYONE AT A FAIR PRICE and not take advantage of someone. If you want to believe this than more power to you and just take the first FAIR offer that the dealer presents to you. Saturn tried this approach with fixed pricing for everyone and I don't think it worked too well. I don't know if they are still doing it or not since I never had interest in any GM products. This bulletin has been very informative has helped me quite a bit on my purchase (thanks everyone) with the exception of salespeople that chime in to rain on people.
