Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
Is there any friends got quotes at Coggin Honda in Jacksonville, FL? Thanks!
Bought our 2012 odyssey ex-l (no nav or res) for invoice --32,399 +ttl. Edmunds TMV was 33,960 and truecar was 33,243. Got polished metal w/ grey leather interior from Honda of the Avenues in jacksonville, fl today. Included 'protection package' (wheel locks, mud guards, trunk liner, pinstriping, door edge guards, moonroof visor) at no extra cost (dealer in gainesville was charging $695 for this on top of their doc fee!) Dealt strictly thru email, quoted invoice + 810 destination + $698 'dealer doc fee' (which salesman advised up front was pure profit) with no haggle, no games. Great experience, no nonsense, paperwork was ready for us when we got there. Did not have any F&I games, either... Just offered extended 3rd party warranty for $1,930, which we declined. Went thru honda's website to request dealer Internet price quotes from about 6 area dealers within 50 mile radius and Honda of the Avenues Internet salesman was the best price and most upfront. Will def. buy from them again!
Ok. after several months of research and going through the forums, just signed the contract for an EX-L with RES for $30,200 + TTL in Jacksonville, FL. They did not have the color that I wanted, so the van is being built and I am taking delivery next week. Didn't really do much. Just called the dealer and mentioned my research on edmunds and asked for his best price. he came back with $30,500 and I countered with $30,000, offered to do the deal today and we settled on $30,200. There are definitely some other hidden incentives out there that is motivating these dealers to do deals close to 2300 under invoice. Thanks to all who helped by posting info (especially hogan773 & 999tang). Overall, am very happy that I got the van for an OTD price that is close to the invoice price. Got the 2.9% APR for 60 months as well. Thanks to all who contributed to this forum. This has been very helpful.
Lucas Honda of Jacksonville, FL and K e n t is the sales guy. Best price around
If you read my message it said "If you are shopping for yourself shop OTD because we all pay it."...I did not mean shopping for others.. I meant shopping for yourself shop OTD (car price, dealer fees... this fee that fee taxes etc..) It is a 100 percent certainty you will pay an OTD price. "comparing prices without TTL is the best way to make comparisons. If you shop for others the prices you have in your area even minus the taxes and fees can not be comparable to another another city or state because each area will be in a different market or incentives....example said car minus taxes and fees may be $29,500 in Pomona, CA however same car may be $30,200 in Jacksonville, FL due to differences in marketing support and the auto market in that area. "sorry but i do not know who informed you about this but i think most would agree that your way of comparing is wrong" I will betcha a nickle if you shopped for yourself you will pay an OTD price. - OTD is the best way to shop if shopping for yourself. - Prices paid in different areas are not comparable. - We all pay OTD.
