Philadelphia area prices
by jesup on Fri Nov 27 21:48:19 PST 2009
Just visited a dealer in the Philly area; spent way too long. Was very interested in a good deal on an '07 Touring RES/NAV (32K miles, $26500), but the good deal became an only ok deal when you count the cost of de-PAXing the Touring (~$1000-1800 plus cost of tires and labor). (I hadn't realized it had PAX... ugh) Was offered (but did not take) $35000 (including destination, not other taxes/fees) for a 2010 EXL w/ RES & NAV (pretty good, though not excellent I think), and ~$33425 for a 2010 EXL w/ RES (not as good; I was expecting ~$2K less than the EXL RES+NAVI). OTD prices would be higher (title, tax (6%), probably a few fees), but we didn't get to that point.
2010 EXL w/RES

I took delivery on a 2010 Odyssey EX-L with RES this week and couldn't be happier. I did a ton of research and had several competitive bids (in writing) which helped in negotiations. I was willing to travel a couple hours to find a good deal so I looked around quite a bit to find the best deal. I live near Des Moines, Iowa and ended up purchasing from my local dealer. They were willing to beat the lowest bid I brought to them by a couple hundred bucks. I also purchased and extended warranty through Honda Care for 7 years/80,000 miles. College Hills Honda had the best rates I could find for a Honda Care warranty. Their web site is www.collegehillshonda.com. Thankfully, my dealer matched the price so I purchased from my local dealer. If your dealer can't match their price, you can buy from them over the phone with a credit card (even after you take delivery). They were very friendly and also had some great deals on accessories. If you plan on keeping your van for more than 3-4 years, I would highly recommend the extended warranty. Especially since it's transferable (prorated of course) if you don't use it up. Here is a breakdown of what I received from my local dealer: Vehicle Purchase Price: $32,135.71 Sales Tax (5%): $1606.79 Title: $25 License Fee: $400 Doc Fee: $185 Delivered Price: $34,352.50 Service Contract (Honda Care): $760 (7 years, 80,000 miles) Out The Door Price: $35,112.50 I also received 2.9% APR financing for 60 months. For the week or so that we've had the van, we can't be happier. It rides great, it's comfortable and very kid friendly. We have owned quite a few vehicles in the past and keep going back to Honda's after trying other brands. We love the way they drive, the resale value, total cost of ownership and definitly their looks. We looked quite a bit at the Town and Country as well as the Sienna. We liked the price, looks and some of the features of the T&C, however the resale value is terrible and it's not near as comfortable. In additon, we are turning in an 06 Chrysler Pacifica and their paint quality is very poor. The Sienna was very competitive, however it came down to looks. The Odyssey my opinion just looks better. In addtion, the Sienna packages and options were a bit confusing. We are very pleased with our purchase. You can't go wrong with a Honda. I hope this post helps anyone looking for an Odyssey. Good luck.

IMHO - you'll regret your decision once you need to replace your PAX tires on the Touring (unless it has already been de-PAXed)
2010 Civic EX-L

Just purchased a 2010 EX-L Auto w/o Nav today. Went through a competitive bidding process throughout DE / MD / PA. Got "Excellent" Kelly Blue Book trade in value for a "Good" condition Chevrolet Equinox. Paid $20,649 includng doc fee (which is also dealer profit - don't let them tell you otherwise) so about $136 below invoice. Walked away from the $750 '09 rebate, but there are very few '09's left. Extremely happy; great service and only a single dealership visit. Highly recommend competitive bidding process.
