Re: Best price in California 2007 touring with nav [tldel]

tldel - I live in Philly and purchased a 2006 Touring before the 07's were out with NAV and DVD at invoice. The car was located in Newark, DE and brought up for me to look at. I would think that you can find an 07 for the same deal.

Sorry that I'm jumping in at the end of a loooong thread; I hope I'm replying to the proper post. 2 weeks ago, I purchased a Saraha Sand Metallic 2006 LX 2WD with no options except front and rear mud guards (which were already on the vehicle) for $19,000 in Newark, DE. That includes Destination. No fees we paid except tax and tags, which I paid outside of the financing. I went in with my financing in hand and having negotiated the purchase price ahead of time via email and 2 phone calls. Took an hour-long test drive (without the salesman), signed the papers and went home with my CR-V. Very happy with the deal.

Open Road is in my slick dealer category. I just got an email from them stating that THEY had the car I was looking for. I already knew that they didn't. They were going to get me up there to say that oh... You wanted a 2006? We have the 2005. I have been dealing will numerous salesmen (women) these past few weeks. I can say that maybe three out of twenty were honest and genuinely helpful. There's the cocky category: Thank ME for giving YOU a miserable deal . The fast-talking, wheeler dealer category: I arranged to get it for you; it will be here tomorrow, so I need a deposit. And then there's the good guy category. I don't have it...I'll try to get it...What was your best offer...I'll try to beat it. I finally found a good guy. He's at Martin Honda in Newark, DE. If you live near Philly, go thru the internet and use a Wilmington zip code. At least that's what I did. I was tired of the malarchy from the nearby dealers!

We're still in limbo. Can't find a loaded desert mist to save ourselves. Found a dealer in Newark DE thru internet. Hint: used Wilmington zip. The rep is very nice, very low key, a cut to the chase kind of person. He's not interested in quibbling over the small stuff; he's not interested in getting a down payment. He said he would work to get the car. He didn't want any money from me until it was on his turf. That was refreshing. He asked what I wanted on the car and he asked what numbers have been crunched already. He didn't get tripped up in semantics by defining terms like "after-market". Like I give a hoot! He is trying to do a swap as I write this, we have a 50-50 chance. In the meantime, my Fairfax VA contact has been off. I expect to hear from him on the status of the one coming into Baltimore very soon. I am not getting my hopes up.

Any opinions from the East Coast experts out there? JL Freed - Lansdale, PA Martin Honda - Newark, DE Metro Honda - Jersey City, NJ Classic Honda - Streetsboro, OH Other Ohio and Northern NJ dealers have been mentioned (Joyce, Honda of Essex). Should be able to get at invoice, maybe less. Good luck
