Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
Thanks jensad... I'm glad you appreciate how cheap I am!!! My wife and co-workers always complains it takes me 2 years of research to decide and buy "toothpaste" I know I'm on borrowed time here being that my purchase "is so yesterday" (Nov 4) but, I do think I got a fair deal; and since my post others continue to report comparable prices. The important thing always is that we all benefit from the "collective" and that we push dealers to a bottom price. I have notice that prices in NY, NJ, PA, CT, MA, NH are coming way down to IL, WI, and other midwest states' levels. Specifically, 2011 tourings 4wd are in the low $36k. Prices for the 2011 EX-L 4 wd are in the upper $31k. Prices for same trims without the 4wd should be ~$2k less. to ALL out there I personally, I think getting a 4wd is the way to go as far as resale prices go. Remember that you will get rid of this vehicle eventually, and a 4wd vs a 2wd will win most times. For my wife and I upgrades for technological reasons seem to come at 8 years and 100k miles. Please, Please do your research before you buy!!! and then after you buy Please, Please, Please provide as much info as possible. Write so that others don't have to reply to YOU for more details. Note also that now a days all it takes is to use let's say "Edmunds" and do the mass email thing to get dealers to circle around you. No need for fancy faxes, or phone calls. Just add as many dealers as YOU can to an email and wait 1/2 hour. Jensad, the MDX is a phenomenal vehicle and had it not been for that 8 passenger capacity of the Pilot we would have gone that route. Congrats also on a 18%!!! below sticker. That is sick!!! and tough to beat. Hasta la vista all...
Does your username indicate you live in CO? That cheap lease deal is only supposed to be available in: CT, DE, IL, IN, KY, MA, ME, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VT & WV 0.00043 is the cheap money lease at just under 1%, for this that live where there is no lease special the MF is 0.00245 which is nearly 6 times higher at 5.88% effective. The only way for your payments to stay the same with nearly 6x the interest is for the dealer to discount the Pilot to make it up or for you to have to pay more into the lease - otherwise the payments will be going up. If they ask you to sign a new contract, check it over carefully as you may have to just give them back the Pilot if you are no longer getting a good deal. As a note to everyone, please update your forum profile to AT LEAST include your state of residense if not city and state. An e-mail would be nice and other information, but at least put in the state where you live. Taxes, deals, dealer recommendations, and many other things are location specific and including this info in your profile makes it a lot easier for others to help you out. Dennis
Yes, they are able to do the NYS DMV stuff but it's a pain because you have to drive down again to pick it up two weeks later. I have a co-worker who live in Edison and she picked it up for me :D . Or when you pick up the tag, continue to the NJ south shore for some fun . BTW, are you doing any trade-in? Just be careful if you do b/c they will try to low-ball you. Always be ready to walk.
I am here duaneman. A selling price of $400 below dealer invoice is an excellent price for a leased 2007 Honda Pilot. The reason that the TMV price you saw is belie dealer invoice is probably that it is taking the $2,000 dealer cash that is currently available on the '07 Pilot into account. Unfortunately, this dealer cash is not available on leases using the special regional lease program. The money factor that is being used to calculate your monthly payment is too high though. If you are in one of the states that Honda is running a special lease program on this truck in*, its buy rate lease money factor should only be .00048 for consumers who qualify for its "Super Preferred" credit tier and pay a security deposit at lease signing. Make sure that this is the factor that the dealer you are working with uses to calculate your truck's monthly payment.
