Re: Honda of Greeley, Colorado and their Quote for 2007 EX AWD Element [soo
by tabbycat3 on Sun Feb 11 16:28:20 PST 2007
We ended up purchasing the Honda Element EX (2007) from Honda of Greeley, CO. Overall, the experience was very pleasant. They did try to push the Extended Warranties as I'm sure they are told to do. We just kept saying, "No Thank-you". The rest of the purchase was a breeze. We have had our Honda Element for about 2 weeks now and are really pleased with it. We are calling around to see who has the cheapest "installed" price for the fog lights. So far, Boulder, CO (Fisher Honda) is beating Fort Collins, Longmont and Greeley in the pricing by at least a couple of hundred.
Took 3 weeks to get our Element EX-P AWD in Colorado

It took our dealership (Honda of Greeley, CO) nearly 3 weeks to get us a new Honda Element EX-P 2007 All Wheel Drive in the color that we wanted. I thought that it would be a piece of cake in the Denver area, but my guess is that they ordered it direct from the factory as it was given to us with 11 miles on it, plus it took them almost 3 weeks to get one once we agreed to the price. I also wanted to say that if you are a tall person, this car is great. We thought about buying the Honda Pilot but once I got in the 2nd seat behind the driver's side I said forget it. I'm five foot 10" tall. My husband is 6 feet. When I was driving my Ford Explorer XLT (with sunroof) my head was about 2" from the ceiling. When I hit a speed bump or a pot-hole, I sometimes could feel the ceiling on my hair. The Element's 2nd row has tons of leg room. For this reason we love this car. Very nice for taller than average folks. In Colorado we did find that the All Wheel Drive versions of the Elements were scarce. Fort Collins had none when we were looking as did Longmont. The sales people said that the AWD's were hard to keep on hand.

The FIT will do just fine in the mountains. I live near Denver and use my manual transmission FIT often on the mountain roads - both small and interstates. It is a JOY to drive on the tight twisty smaller roads. It does just fine also on the interstates. On a big long grade such as I-70 heading West up the continental divide, if you are in 5th gear with cruise control on, you will need to shift down to 4th occasionally. Sounds as if you are more interested in an automatic. I can't speak from experience, but the auto will probably do some downshifting on the longer grades.

I'm sure the policy will vary from dealer to dealer. Fisher Honda in Boulder, CO has what I would consider a very customer-friendly policy about credit cards. They took my credit card for my $500 deposit when I was waiting for the car, but did not actually charge to it (just held the number). When I completed the purchase, they allowed me to put $2000 on my credit card to get some milage. I can certainly understand why they have a limit, as the credit card fee would be a big percentage of their profit on an inexpensive car like a Fit.
Great dealer experience

Picked up my Milano Red Sport MT last Saturday. Had ordered it on 14 April. I can give a very positive recommendation to Fisher Honda of Boulder, CO. I went there rather than a closer Honda dealer because I had heard good things about them and I wasn't dissapointed. Got the car for sticker price w/o any markup or dealer add-ons. Paid $225 installed price for rubber mats, exhaust finisher and rear bumper protection strip. Salesman was excellent - timely and complete communication via Email. Had to listen to the usual half hour spiel by the finance guy about things I didn't want (insurance, Lojak, etc) before writing the check but not really high pressure. Checked out the service area when I had the accessories installed - pretty nice setup. The usual shuttle rides available, but also loaner bicycles if you want to run errands in Boulder and also a computer with internet access! So if you're in the Front Range area and want a FIT, I'd recommend Fisher. Salesman did say that availability of manual transmission Fits may be limited for awhile, though.
