Honda Fit Sport MT for cheap!
by mannyljr on Thu Jul 23 20:35:41 PDT 2009
Last night, I did a search for manual tranny Fit Sports with Autotrader within 200 miles of San Diego. I came up with 6 dealers with a black one in stock and I e-mailed each from the link on the Autotraders website. All responded today, the best local price was at DCH Honda in Lemon Grove, CA. $16,164 plus tax and title. But Penske Honda in Ontario, CA quoted me $15,300! I talked to the internet rep 3 times for him to double check. He stuck with his quote and e-mailed it. The only extra charges would be $55 doc fee and $8.75 tire fee. I'm guessing that's not for each tire. I've never seen that fee. Anyway, it's $864 under my best local price. Ontario is about 120 miles away for me and a couple tanks worth of gas is less than $100. The only stumbling block is my Cash-For-Clunkers trade-in. I have a 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE, that is pretty much a beater. I'm the original and I've had it registered and insured continuously. It has 170,000 miles and still runs pretty good. But with the CFC giving me $4500 for it, I'd gladly part ways with it. Though the internet sales guy was adamant about not doing CFC yet, and not promising they would tomorrow either. I'm going to call them again tonight and see if they ran the credit, so we can talk final numbers. Wish me luck!

I also live in SoCal, to be specific I live in SD. I purchased my vehicle from dch honda of lemon grove, I felt very happy with the deal I got, seeing as its my first car purchase from a dealer. This is a 2009 Honda Fit base model (Manual Transmission) Selling Price: 15083.05 Documentation Fee: 55.00 Sales Tax :1173.20 License Fee: 98.00 Registration/transfer/titling fee: 82.00 CA Tire Fees: 8.75 Total OTD Price: 16500 Dont Give up and keep negotiating. P.S. The lowest estimate I recieved was at Pacific Honda in Clairemont for 16300.00 OTD. Strangley enough they didnt have my car they had "sold it just last night" ;)
San Diego 2009 FITs @ MSRP
by brianflys on Sat Sep 06 18:49:52 PDT 2008
Seems like Fits are starting to show up in real numbers, at least here in San Diego, and there are opportunities to buy at MSRP. Used the internet quote request function in Edmunds, and got multiple quotes at MSRP. Be careful, because the weasel wording in the quotes may mean the dealer will insist on over-priced "protection packages" or other "fees". Regarding supply, I received several calls and emails from other dealers besides where I bought today, they are getting Fits in and these apparently are not pre-sold. My experience: bought a 2009 Sport Auto, Storm Silver today, from DCH Lemon Grove Honda (MSRP + gov fees). My experience there was excellent, and I recommend if you are shopping in the San Diego/ SoCal area to contact Paul Choi, Internet sales manager. I get nothing for this recommendation, just a very satisfied customer. Paul is honest, earnest, and very pleasant to work with. Usual fun with the finance guy, but he was pretty good-natured when I declined those add-ons. The car is great (but you KNOW that!). Burned 1/2 a tank so far, and the meter is showing over 36 average mpg! (mostly freeway driving). It will be interesting to see how this evolves (car had 7 miles at delivery, straight off the truck). Am I happy? :D :D
