08 Honda Accord EX V6 4-Door Sedan
by r0yalty on Fri May 23 10:31:06 PDT 2008
I've been shopping around for the past week, emailed most honda dealers within a 2 hour drive time from San Diego (I live in San Diego, CA). The lowest written quote I got was from Moss Bros. Honda in Moreno Valley as follows: car price :$23,029.92 + 7.75% tax + $55 doc fee + $245 License fee *car price includes dest. fee But over the phone, the best price i got was from DCH in Temecula, CA. The guy quoted me (I will be going there today, so I'll let you all know the results): car price: $22,800 + tax: $1771.26 @ 7.75% (the dreadful California tax) + license: $245.75 *+doc: $55 OTD price: $24,872.01 **There is no trade in involved. Price includes dest. fee I will also be taking 2.9% financing (yes i qualify)

Dennis- took an s2000 out last night for a test drive. :) wow. loved it. verynice very tight. handled like it was on rails. noisy and rough, but with the top down, it was NICe. the vtec wail was great and if you shift fast enogh it never falls out of VTEC and really moved nicely. quick. i test drove an 08 RX8 and i must say the s2000 is quicke.r the rx8 is more "comfy"...but the s2000 is the choice for hardcore driving. anyway..after the test drive i talk to the finance guy, told him I was interested but was not buying right then. it oldhim i would make my calls, chck around local dealers b/c i knew there was some wiggle room int he sellin price to get mymonthly payment down a bit more. he acted like he was 100% positive that there was NO wiggle room AT ALL. he said that's thenational deal and we can't change it. i politely told him that i leased a 2007 MDX about 10 months ago,and that another dealer had told me that 100% they could NTO deviate formt he advertised national lease and with about 3 hpone calls I had people knocking 2000 off. I told him that same dealer that said "no way" was begging me to come back so he could match the deal I found elsewhere. i was polite, told them i knew they were in business to make money, but that I was a buyer would would do myhomework..and would get back to them. i am near san diego, CA. a bit north by about 45 minutes. Temecula, CA. i havea honda dealer 5 min from my house. so the big question is - how much cheaper can they go on the advertised lease special?? if i call up 5 dealers and say I'l come down in 1 hour and sign the paperowrk and drive an s2k off the lot BUT I want the car at $30k or $30500... or whatever... where is the lowest i'm goin to find someone going? my guess is if I said i'll pay $31500...or right around invoice, they would go for it. that would save me another $1000 and bring the payment down anothe 25-30/month. if I could put down $2500 and then have about a $350/month payment WITH CA tax...i'd bite. BTW, i checkd into RX8 leases. FORGETABOUT IT. on a 36mo lease iwh 12k, the residual is like 50% and the MF is terrible. payment with 2500 down would be in the mid to high 400s. almost 100-150 higher than i can get on the s2000. mazda better do something or their 08 RX8s are goin to sit and rot. can I get $2500 out of pocket and $350/month WITh tax? that's a smokin deal. the s2k is driving nirvana.

Re: Recommended dealers in San Diego, CA? [mvspeed2007]

Thank you to mvspeed2007. Santa Ana Honda replied with an internet quote of $29,500+tax+title+fees for a EX-L w/ DVD. Poway Honda matched that deal. Poway Honda was the ONLY San Diego dealer to come near the price. The closet internet quote from the San Diego area was from Escondido Honda at 33,315.00 OTD Out the door price was $32,138.51 at Poway Honda. I highly recommend Brynda Dunbar. She is very knowledgable regarding current pricing in LA/Irvine/Temecula and San Diego. Note: I have seen multiple definitions of OTD. I define it as the "final" price including all fees, tax, title and destination - it includes everything.
CR-V LX 2WD
by donkeypuncher on Tue Mar 06 16:23:35 PST 2007
Purchased a silver 2007 CR-V LX 2WD (MSRP $21,195) for $19,900 plus TTL ($21,700 OTD) from Penske Honda in Ontario, CA a couple of weeks ago. Spent about three weeks soliciting quotes from various Southern California Honda dealers. Fuller Honda in Chula Vista gave an internet quote of $20,445 plus TTL which included a cargo tray, wheel locks and splash guards at no additional cost. Visited the dealer and the price went down to $21,900 OTD but for a white LX If I wanted silver, it would be $22,200 OTD for “one on the way.” Hoehn Honda gave an internet quote of $20,547 plus TTL. This dealer wasn’t pushy but I did not pursue the offer. Ball Honda in National City gave an internet quote of $20,665 plus TTL which included roof rack, wheel locks, splash guards, cargo tray and wheel moldings. This dealer wasn’t pushy either but I didn’t pursue the offer since I haven’t heard many great things when dealing with the Mile of Cars. Poway Honda offered an internet quote of $20,648 plus TTL. Visited the dealer and the price given was $22,000 OTD but for beige only. No silver in stock. Pacific Honda only offered MSRP of $21,195 plus TTL since the CR-V was “scarce.” Since other dealers were giving below MSRP quotes, I avoided this dealer. I contacted one of the internet managers at DCH Honda in Temecula and asked if they could beat the $21,900 OTD which included the accessories and he came back with a higher quote of $22,900 OTD. One of the internet managers at Tipton Honda in El Cajon was very arrogant. He added $1000-1500 on top of MSRP plus TTL on any CR-V model I asked about. For an LX, he gave a phone quote of $22,195 plus TTL. When I declined because I was able to get an OTD price of $21,900 from Fuller Honda, he started to bad mouth Fuller and criticized their business practices going on to say Fuller lures you down there then ends up tacking on another $2K on top of what they quoted you. To refute what he was saying I told him I got a similar deal from Poway Honda so he started to hurl insults at me…at this point I thanked him for his time then hung up on the loser mid-sentence. Spirit Honda in El Monte gave an internet quote of $20,500 plus TTL. I emailed back with my best offer from Fuller Honda and did not get a response. I received a follow-up email for the LX a week later but the quote went up to $20,900 plus TTL. Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos would not go below MSRP on the LX due to limited inventory. This dealer claims to be the #1 Honda Dealer in the USA in volume sales and that they are never knowingly undersold. I was not willing to pay MSRP so I emailed the initial internet manager I was working with, gave him my best quote received and reminded him of Norm Reeves’ claims. He never responded and must have been insulted cause he turned it over to another internet manager who later emailed me and said they would only sell for MSRP….so they were willing to be knowingly undersold. Received a flyer in the mail that had Penske Honda listed on the back. I checked them out online and requested a quote. One of the internet managers contacted me the next day and I gave him my best quote of $21,900 OTD. He called back and offered $21,700 OTD for the silver LX with black interior. I was ready to go up to make the purchase and he called to let me know that the silver LX with black interior had a roof rack installed but he just received a silver LX with gray interior 30 minutes before his phone call. No problem. He held the car and I went up to complete the transaction. I couldn’t get them to throw in any accessories but if I wanted, they could’ve sold me a tango red LX 2WD which included splash guards for the same price as the silver. Took the silver as color was more important and used Bernardi Parts to get the accessories. Took about 15 minutes to install the splash guards and cargo cover. I could have bargained with a local San Diego dealer to match or beat the price but I too was tired of the process, tired of the BS prices given when I told them I wanted silver and didn’t want to leave a deposit for one on the way.
4.9% interest rate good for 60 months too?

I am looking for a EX-L with RES and NAV. We need to make a move pretty quick and will probably have a very low value trade in. This board has been great. Any tips on anything else I should include in my quote in terms of accessories? I just sent out a bunch of emails. This has been SO helpful. I am also in So Cal and was going through Costco but I can do better. I need to get a car in the next couple days, so thanks for all the info. Now I just have to find the right color, etc for the wife! I will update when I get the deal. I am in the Temecula, CA area.
