Re: 07 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Purchase [riveroaks]
by 6wheeler on Wed Aug 29 13:12:10 PDT 2007
Hey- thank you to this forum, I'm not in Houston but any Phoenix, AZ buyers check out Tempe Honda. I've been trying to close a deal on a 2007 Accord EX-L V6/ no navi for more than 2 months at a price I was told by a very local Mesa dealership as being impossible. Thanx to finding your info posted here yesterday a.m., I found out I was not out to lunch and walked in to the Tempe Dealership yesterday afternoon and purchased my black /ivory Accord for $23,500 which inc. destination fee and some kind of protection coating/mats package cost. They were several thousands cheaper than the Mesa Dealership's supposedly discounted primo price offering. I am pleased...... J.
Fit gives less for your money?
by jkandell on Sat Jul 07 08:20:51 PDT 2007
Because the Fit was so "hot" I couldn't negotiate and purchased at msrp, like most of us here. Even so I consider it fairly priced considering the versatility and Honda reliability. I've recently been rethinking things after a relative told me he just purchased an 08 Corolla LE for $17000 out the door with a trade-in of an 86 Camry--$800 more otd than I paid for my barebones MT Fit with no add ons. I was surprised how many more features his "vanilla" Corolla had compared to mine: vehicle stability control with traction control and brake assist; tire pressure monitoring; six CD player w six speakers; cruise control; daytime running lights; optitron display showing outside temp, coolant temp among other; two map lamps; seat height adjustment; remote fuel cap release; two 12 v jacks; tilt steering wheel, etc. From what I can gather the only things I had over him with my Fit were mpg, six airbags (he has two but does have an extra reinforcement bar on the side door) and the magic seats. Granted, not everyone will get such a good deal on a Corolla (he was in the right place at the right time at end of month); but my point is these types of negotiating opportunities exist for other cars but not for the Fit. And I'm not trying to turn this thread into 'Fit vs. Corolla' (it's just an example), and I still love my car. But I'll admit what he got for his money compared with mine made me rethink my purchase. He got at least 50% more car for the same money. It will be interesting to see what price the Fit goes for once American production kicks in and there are plenty of them and supply meets demand. I'm guessing $2000 less?
Re: Sould I pay for detail service fee? [maynna]

NO WAY!! They are just trying to rip you off by adding all kinds of extra & usurious fees into their price!! It is my understanding that those items should ALL be covered in the "Dealer Doc & Prep" fee - in some states that's been regulated to less than $100 & in other states I've seen it as high as $600 - where are you located??

Thanks for the report jkandell. I ordered a manual sport from Earnhardt in early December, build date is tomorrow so I should have the car in 4 - 5 weeks. I live in Tucson and I also contacted every dealer in southern AZ and ended up going with Earnhardt because they seemed to be giving me straight info about availability, price, etc. Tempe Honda was the worst (pompous jerks) and Mesa Honda seemed the next best. When I ordered my car I made them include in the price that any add ons were optional although after reading your post I'm fully expecting pressure for the tint, warranty, etc. Enjoy your new car!

SHP1218 1229 1231 0108-0112 Which I guess means it shipped from Japan on 12/18, was received in port (San Diego) on 12/29, was then ready for shipping to dealer on 12/31 and is due at the dealer between 1/8 and 1/12. We shall see. That is a UK built VIN. That's not his VIN, it's the build/ship dates projected for his car. To my knowledge, the 07 V's for the US market are all still coming from Japan.

"I'm still waiting for my GB 4WD EX-L ($500 deposit) and I'm a bit concerned as it appears Honda inventory is pretty much open for grabs by any of the local dealers...I can see another dealer 'hijacking' more CRV's off the truck than they should be getting...and poof it is gone...I'm not believing until I see..." Do you have any "evidence" that this is happening?? I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my GB EX-L (2WD only) next week & I've been contacted by another dealer promising that they'll have one in within a week and yet another dealer is claiming that they have the vehicle right now. At this point, I'm waiting for the dealer that gave me the "best feeling", but sure would hate to find out next week that the car had been "hijacked" from them :( PS - sorry to seem so vague on the details, but I'm waiting til I get the car to post the full, sad story of why I'm changing dealers. And you can be sure I'm looking forward to the call from Honda to rate my "shopping experience"!!
