Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
Had to replace my 2006 EX-L R+N due to accident. Insurance total. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ee93eaa/11768#MSG11768 What a difference 3.5 years make. Best service at Desert Honda in Las Vegas,NV and Earnhardt Honda in Avondale, AZ. No EX-L R/N in the Vegas area and had to head out to CA and AZ. Earnhardt had both colors I wanted in stock but Desert Honda found the van in town at the last minute. A deal fell through at another dealership. Earnhardt Honda was willing to pay my rental car from the accident since my rental insurance was running out in the next few days. Pay for the transport of the van from AZ to LV and a few other things to keep the deal. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait any longer as it was a replacement to my 2006 van. Long story short. Earnhardt Honda Internet department will work with you to make the deal. Desert Honda stayed with the sale to keep trying to locate a van via dealer trade or grabbing another dealers incoming inventory. Desert Honda - Las Vegas, NV Polished Metallic EX-L Res + Nav Purchase Price $35,277 +Fees,Taxes, etc. OTD - was around $38,5xx. No Add-ons or scotch guard or anything. Factory Fresh w/ 30 miles. 15 driving across town on dealer trade. I also had the luxury of using a car buying program so no haggling. Highly recommend that.
Last month I walked out of the Honda dealership in Avondale, Arizona. Intially, they provided the best price in the Metro Phoenix area beating their competitors by over $800. I spoke with the internet manager a number of times before visiting the dealership making it clear I didn't want any add-on "surprises" or I"d walk. Despite his assurances his "partner" attempted to pass on over $600 in accessories I didn't ask for. I thanked them for their time before walking out. When I returned home that Saturday, I e-mailed about 15 dealerships in S. California. After receiving maybe 4 responses in 2 days, I had the pleasure of speaking with an asian women in internet sales at Norm Reeves Honda in West Covina. She was extremely honest and very professional. She saved me nearly $1300.00 after travel expenses with a price of $27,443 before taxes and fees. Doc fees in California are almost $45 compared to about $350 here in AZ. I'd highly recommend the asian women in internet sales at Norm Reeves Honda, West Covina. It took about a week after my initial request for quotes before the other CA dealerships responded but they all eventually trickled in. I wanted the NAV system but decided the extra expense in my case would be unwise since I'd have no use for RES. From what I've read on the PAX tires, I'm glad I didn't go with the Touring which was my original choice. Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the information which was extremely helpful. I visited family near Panama City FL during C'mas and New Year's averaging about 24.5 mpg on the highway.
Hi, I like to thank everyone on this forum for all the great info. I just pick up my 2WD EX-L w/ Navi in Desert Rock this monday from Earnhardt Honda in Avondale, AZ. I pay $28,877, which included window tint and alarm system, so that’s ~$2400 below invoice. The OTD price was $32,088 (7.8% tax). They initially gave me a quote of $3000 below invoice, but as soon as I got to the dealership, I knew there’s no way in hell they were going to sell you the vehicle for that price. But after all said and done, I got the price I wanted to pay and they were $1000 lower than any of the other local dealers. Overall positive experience, but their internet/fleet department operates very similar to a regular sales department once you’re at the dealership. For thoes that are considering the Navi, I highly recommend it, it's definitely worth the extra cost.
99accord, was the $25,113 price your initial quote from Earnhardt Honda or did you have to negotiate for that price? Also did you negotiate on the added accessories? I'm look to buy in the next week or so and Earnhardt is the closest dealer by me. Thanks.
I just bought a 2006 Honda Pilot EX 4WD Cloth Interior for $25,113 plus fees from Earnhardt Honda in Phoenix (Avondale) Arizona. The total OTD price was $29,875 but that included the Trailer Towing Package ($1049), Crossbars for the roof ($214) and Tinted Windows ($299), Tax, License and Doc fees. Using Edmunds dealer quote email service, I received 5 responses immediately. The top three quotes were(base prices)Earnhardt Honda ($25,113); Honda Cars of Mesa ($26,163); and Tempe Honda (26,274). All the dealers I spoke to, said that in Phoenix there was a $2000 incentive until 7/5. The Pilot I purchased only had 25 miles on it and the entire deal took less than two hours at the dealership. However, I did not have a trade and I arranged financing beforehand. Hope this information helps someone else, the information on this forum certainly helped me.
