Went to 3 dealers today, cash in hand - Northern Cal area - Fremont, San Jose and Santa Clara Honda dealers. Went in, ask for the sales manager - and spoke to each sales manager at each dealership. Sat down, told them I was paying cash and wanted an out the door price of $17,500 on a Sport FIT A/T. None of them took me up on that offer - did not purchase a car. There is a $500 cash incentive if you finance - but we were not doing that. I'd be a little skeptical about those that have posted any purchased OTD for $17,500 (or less) and even the $17,686 price (perhaps with Financing that could work) is questionable - but our sales tax is also between 9.25 and 9.75% - so there is room to work there in other states - but not in CA. New Fit in Alabama

I have a new 2009 Fit Sport with manual transmission and no accessories. $16,264 vehicle price (including destination charges) $569 tax (2.5 % AL state tax, 0.75 % city tax, 0.75 % county tax = 3.5 % total) $16.50 title fee $149.50 documentation fee $16,989 out-the-door total I did not finance through the dealership and no extended warranty or service was added to the price. I contacted 4 dealers in the region through the Edmund's quote system. Fortunately, my local dealer gave the best price. They found the exact car that I wanted (even color) from another dealership in the state and got it for me. That's very close to the Edmund's TMV price. I'm pleased considering that I didn't haggle and the salesperson was very friendly and low pressure.

Here's what I got down to before the dealer let me walk away. 24,924 + 6% Tax and $200 New Tags = OTD = $27,250. I think I'm going to keep shopping around a little. Al-

An update on my deal. The dealer I was working with was holding out on me a little. To be honest I expected tax and tags to be additional but that "dealer fee" is a load a warm moose droppings. Here is the best deal I have been able to get so far on an 09 EX-L V6. 24,654 Base 670 Dealer Fee 25,324 + 6% Tax and Florida Tags 26,986.20 - OTD Al-

I'm working the local dealers in South Florida and I seem to be hovering around 24,800 OTD pricing for an 09 EX-L V6. Is anyone getting anything better ? Thanks Al-
