Never Again
by peter_williams on 10-22-07 (07:20PM)
Pros:
I never have to go to a Toyota dealer again.
Cons:
All they want is your money.

I leased a new Avalon from these guys. I had to leave a deposit for them to locate the exact color/option combination. On closing, they had "lost" all record of my deposit. Fortunately I had the receipt. Next, they "miscalculated" my lease at the agreed monthly payment PLUS sales tax. I had their computer printout from when I ordered the car which showed that the amount INCLUDED sales tax.

Within a couple of days and with less than 30 miles on the odo, I noticed that the car was riding very hard. I called the salesperson to ask if they could switch the Bridgestone EL400s to Michelins as the Avalon comes with either - luck of the draw. The salesman didn't return my calls. I left multiple messages without getting a response. I called the sales manager and he avoided my calls too. I went to the service manager who refused to help. I contacted Toyota Customer Service who told me to go back to the dealer. The sales person called me back after being prompted by Toyota and said that the manager would not replace the tires.

I went to a Bridgestone dealer who replaced the tires under warranty and upgraded me to a better quality tire.

I completed Toyota's new car survey and gave the dealership and salesman the rating they deserved. The salesman eventually called me back about 2 months later - to complain about my survey.

I continued to have multiple problems with the Avalon but the dealer never resolved any of them. They even pushed back on implementing TSB's that documented the problems I was having. Other Toyota dealers were just as unhelpful. This vehicle was a mechanical and electronic nightmare.

I eventually traded the Avalon at less than 6,000 miles for a Nissan.
