Tree Sap Scared Me Away - And I Was Ready To Buy
Written by 04/23/2010
onI went to Taylor Hyundai to test drive a Sonata. I told the sales associate my desired color. He led me to a rear parking area that was bordered by some large oak trees. I was shocked to see that the car in my desired color was covered in sticky sap, bugs and other organic debris.
I drove it anyway and loved the ride. It was washed and I took it to my wife to drive - she was impressed as well. After a couple of days of mulling things over and researching Hyundai, we called the salesman and told him we'd be in the next day to make the purchase.
When we got there, our Sonata was again parked under those same trees that had previously dumped all that sap - with a fresh coat of goop.
We left.
The questions that I have to ask myself are:
1) How long was that car parked there?
2) Do all their cars spend time there? - because there were half a dozen new vehicles parked under those trees.
3)How much damage can tree sap do to paint and exposed rubber?
4)Why doesn't the sales staff park under the trees instead?
