Final Price Expected on SLT2 AWD with Nav, Rear Entertainment, etc.
by acadia2009 on Thu May 28 21:06:45 PDT 2009
I'm planning on purchasing a Chicago-based Acadia this weekend. With it being end of month, and an large over supply of Acadia's in this market, I'm hearing (from a friend's father who owns a GMC dealership in downstate IN), that my final price before taxes should be "significantly" under Dealer/Factory Invoice, and could be $10K under MSRP. So for the $46,290 MSRP AWD SLT2 I test drove, I'm expecting to pay about $36,000. Does this sound about right? Any other rules of thumb that might help me take advantage of this unprecidented market opportunity?

Hey just wondering where in NJ did you get offered this deal? we went to 2 dealerships yesterday in Union NJ & Summit NJ and we weren't impressed with them.. one laughed at us when we said we wanted the basic SLE model with just the entertainment package added on...he said he's never heard ANYONE want 'just the basic' model. so we're looking for dealer recommendations in North Jersey...we're in Maplewood but we're willing to drive to get a good deal. we want SLE basic with RES package for 36 months/12000miles, zero down bar incentives are we crazy thinking we can get this below $430?? also is it common for salesman to just NOT give u the residual or money factor..we kept getting 'its approx..etc etc'

I bought my fully loaded Denali 3 weeks ago with Supplier pricing. GM gives them money for the supplier pricing, so when it comes to trade ins they are alot tighter. I had some wiggle room with my trade but not much. They clearly said upfront they could "over value" my trade like they do for other deals.

"The MDX sounds like good deal and a lot more of a quality vehicle" On what basis are you making such a statement? The MSRP on an MDX is roughly $7k higher (including rebates) and actual transaction costs probably widen that margin. I've seen posts here claiming Acadia purchases at $300 over invoice--find me an Acura dealer who will match that price on an MDX ANYWHERE IN THE US and I'll buy it today. As to "quality", again you're assuming facts not in evidence. Both vehicles are new models. As such, they have no history of quality. Although they may share some parts with old models and their respective manufacturers have differing quality history, that doesn't necessarily translate to the durability of either of these new vehicles. You probably know that the old Acura MDX's recall history isn't spotless--bad transmissions plagued several model years. I happen to be a big fan of the MDX and most recenlty owned a 2005 model. But that doesn't mean I'll blindly assume that the new MDX is of higher quality than the new Acadia--especially relative to purchase price. That said: the lease deal quoted is insane. One could easily buy the car for less than that.
