Buying a car from a GMC Car Dealer
We just bought a Terrain SLE-2 V6 cloth, nav + sunroof + convenience package + 18" wheels + trailer hitch for $30898 + ttl in Dallas , TX. Invoice was 30408 including destination + ttl. They charged us $490 for regional ad & dealer ad fees. They threw in wheel locks and tint on front windows + one extra tank of gas in the future. Still feel a bit ripped off......What do you think, ok deal ?
If you are buying it for better gas mileage than a full size SUV. We bought a 2011 Acadia Denali AWD, around town best we have seen is 14.5 and on the highway 17. Dealer says it's getting 24.2 on the highway after a 100 mile road test but when we got the car back the on board computer displayed 17. Think they are lying????? you know they are so they don't have to take it back. we have almost 7,000 miles on the car and they keep saying wait it will get better. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!! We wish we could get back our 2009 Yukon Denali at that we traded in wanting a car with better fuel mileage man are we sorry at least the Yukon had some get up and go 400HP.
DO NOT BUY A GMC TERRAIN!!!!!!! The car is sexy and drives OK but the V6 has little power and I've had several trips back to dealer because of mechanical problems. Not to mention the best gas mileage you will get is around 25-27mph highways instead of the advertised 32mph. I've had my new 2011 GMC Terrain SLT FWD for a total of 24 days and 1,000 miles and the Service Engine Light (SEL)came on. I took it back to the dealer and they fixed it after a few days saying "Found lean codes in memory. Inspected Engine for vacuum leak. Found Dip Stick Tube not sealed properly. repaired and road tested vehicle." I asked the service tech if they have seen a lot of Terrains back in for repairs and of course he said no I just happen to be unlucky. I drove the car for another 19 days and ~700 miles and the SEL came on AGAIN. The vehicle is back in the shop and it's been over two days and I am still waiting for the shop to call. If must get this car make sure to get the extended warranty because you will need it. I should have known GM = Government Motors and it would function the same as our government - IT DOESN'T!
If he's trying to "dump his inventory" he will need to be much more aggressive than that. Offering $4k off a $62k vehicle almost nobody wants is not going to make his inventory disappear very quickly. Offer him invoice minus all incentives and see what else he'll throw in--maybe a $500 gas card.
I bought my Yukon in February 2009 - and got a great deal in NYC- but the dealer said if I had bought in October/November/December of 2008 they were giving them away - when the economy was starting to tank and gas prices were outrageous. It's hard to compare prices now with a year ago...
