2008 Bullitt Mustang - Love it!
by mcqueen32759 on Wed Jul 16 15:38:19 PDT 2008
My name is McQueen . . . Jeff McQueen and I live in Detroit. When I met Ford CEO, Alan Mulally last April and he saw my last name on my business card, he informed me Ford would launch the 2008 Bullitt in the Fall of 2007, and suggested I get one. My Bullitt arrived in February 2008 and I've been having a blast. I quickly learned how to drive a manual transmission, and I've had it up to 140 MPH on one of the local hignways. I also find people looking at my car when I park it in a public place. I foten play Sheryl Crow's "Steve McQueen: song when crusing on Woodward Avenue. I plan on entering it in this year's Woodward Cruise. I also have the MCQUEEN license plate for the State of Michigan on the car. How cool is that? Best Regards, Jeff McQueen You can see photos of my car at www.imboc.com

2008 Ford Edge SEL FWD
by dirtball on Tue May 20 12:40:33 PDT 2008
Hello All, This is my first time posting here, so forgive me if I say things incorrectly. I was offered this by a dealer in Southfield (metro Detroit), Michigan: 2008 Ford Edge SEL FWD Options: Sync; Audiophile System; Panoramic Roof; Sirius; Cloth interior... MSRP 31410.00 Price 28601.65 Adjusted price w/A Plan and Ford Loyalty - $25601.65 36-month lease; 15,000/year Residual - .46 Money Factor .0009375 (2.25% APR) $616 due at signing including 1st pymt Monthly Payment $ 388.32 My question is, does this sound like a good deal? By my calculations using the Money factor and resid, I come up with a bottom line payment of $367.04 with tax. It seems alright to me, but - - - I just want to be sure, since you're the experts. Has anyone gotten any better pricing? Should I haggle for lower payments? Thanks in advance for your input!

I'm just trying to point out that there are a lot more factors that go into a total purchase price beyond, "...give me you best deals under invoice price..." is pretty meaningless unless you know the rest of the costs as well as the market where you're buying the car. (eg buying a TX in Detroit will be different than in Dallas...or do I need to explain that one too!). Anway, go back to your copy/paste close-to-spam posts.

Exactly like the host said. I don't think anyone thinks someone is lying, but they just want to get all of the details.ou For example if someone tells me that the dealer dropped $5,000 from the sticker price the first impression would be...hey, great deal. But then after getting all of the details you find out that they spent a couple of thousand more then they needed to on an extended warranty, and they only received $2,000 for a trade that was valued at $10,000, then the $5,000 off sticker isn't as impressive sounding. Another thing about car buying is that car prices are similar to house prices, in that in different geographic areas you can find different prices for the same thing. Maybe not as extreme, but if you're in Southern California, you may find that a Taurus X will cost you a lot more than if your dealership is outside of Detroit. And it will vary by lot. You may get a great deal at the end of a model year from a dealer who's just trying to clear their lot. Or from a dealer who only needs one more sale to meet their quota. Or from a dealer where you've bought cars from every 3 years for the past 30 years, so they're willing to give you a good deal. Bottom line is that just because someone is posting that they bought a Taurus X or whatever for $1000 under invoice will have very little to do with the price you can expect to pay. And if you end up paying $500 over invoice for your Taurus X, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're a stupid buyer who go ripped off, because there could have been many factors in the deal where the guy got $1000 below invoice that don't apply in your case (eg georgraphic location, dealer inventory, history, specific incentives at the time of purchase, etc). Think of all of the information here as a very rough guide. The simplest thing to do is go to a couple of different dealers. That way you can test drive the vehicle you're looking for a few different times and have a few different prices that you can compare.

All this stuff has me so put off so much that I decided to keep my 4 cylinder KIA.It probably gets better highway mileage than the Escape Hybrid anyway.Thats the problem with Ford and the rest of Detroit...they build the wrong cars. They just dont read the market.
