Lease Questions
by rockymtnwulf on Thu Oct 22 22:27:38 PDT 2009
I have a question about a Ford Edge 2010 lease "deal"... 2010 Ford Edge Limited FWD MSRP: $38,915.00 Z Plan Pricing: $35,000.00 (I am not sure what the actual price is) Doc Fee: $275.00 (I thought this was max $75) Title, License: $400+ (They are not sure of the actual amount but will charge this and if it is less, I will get a refund) Wear Care: $675.00 (I think this was the actual price) Acquisition Fee: $595.00 Rebates: $3,500 39 month 10,500 $537 per month for 39 months Residual is 47% Interest Rate/Money Factor 4% This "deal" is in Central Florida. After they told me one price and then I met with Finance to sign the papers, the price was different - higher of course. Even though I was told by the salesman the price included tax, finance told me the price went up because tax was not included. I asked to see all the numbers. The finance person became very sarcastic and started belittling me, she was also rolling her eyes and making a lot of movements - very unprofessional. She started reading off the prices from her computer screen and tilted the screen so I could barely see it. To get the price back to the original quoted price the salesman gave me, finance changed the warranty to 36 months to leave me without a warranty for the last 3 months of my lease. I took out my phone and started searching the web to show them how I believed the Doc Fee is only supposed to be $75. The salesman came into the finance office as I was searching and wanted to know what I was doing. I told him and he became irate. The salesman and finance woman mentioned how I can trust them and I am getting a sweet deal. They are not making a profit - they are losing money. When I mentioned the spif(?) check, I was told the dealership gets that and they are personally losing money by putting this deal together. They told me if I don't sign tonight, I could forget the deal. So, I got up and left. The salesman called me 20 minutes later asking me to come back tomorrow night. Questions..... 1) Is this a good deal? 2) Do I have to take wearcare? 3) Why am I being charged for a warranty? 4) Shouldn't I be charged the exact amount for registration and license fees? 5) What is the Residual and Interest Rate/Money Factor for Florida. I have good credit if that makes a difference. 6) Isn't the doc fee supposed to be $75? 7) What is Acquisition Fee? Thanks in advance!
End of Lease

Used prices seem to be unusually high. My residual on a 2 year lease of an EB 4x4 is 22,300. Current trade in is $26 to $27K. PPV is over $30K. I really didn't want to purchase this but I can't see letting Ford have this back at $22.3K I've already paid for that extra. I'll probably never lease again. I hate to fool with it but I may buy it and then sell it.

I did some online searching and do not mind taking a bit of a drive from here in central VA to save a few hundred bucks. My local dealer first said MSRP, and I then found a dealer in Columbia MD who was willing to go $300 under. Then after some more web surfing I found a dealer in Richmond VA who will go $1,000 under MSRP. I printed their web page out and took it to my local dealer, they agree to match it as I was about to take a drive to Richmond. For anyone near VA, the dealer in Richmond has 15 on the lot, just google "Sheehy Ford Richmond" and you will find their dealership and the FFH models currently in stock. There are 3 guys listed as the internet sales staff, I sent them an email inquiry on price and they were very prompt in getting back to me, so good luck!
Need help on Mercury Milan AWD
by njalan on Sun May 24 07:22:12 PDT 2009
I am planning to buy either a 2009 or 2010 Milan AWD with most of the popular options including navigation. However, there is very little information, if any, on the Milan. I need all the help I can get from this forum. I live in central New Jersey. What would be a good starting point of negotiation, the MSRP, Invoice or the TMV? There is $3500 cash back on the 2009 and only $1000 cash incentive on the 2010. Which one would be a better buy? What is the going price for a fully AWD, invoice less $3500 plus tax and tag for 2009, or invoice less $1000 plus tax and tag for 2010? Since most AWD cars are not hot sell cars I wonder if the selling price can go below the invoice. Any suggestion/advice is appreciated.
Re: SEL for $17,271.09. What do you think? [capella]

I tried it and the dealer said: "Wish I could help but I'm giving it to you with no dealer fees" That was from a small town dealer in central fl where my mother lives. I tried a local dealer and got an OTD price of $299 more. So now I'm pretty comfortable that the price is fair.

Decided to purchase. MSRP was 23,975. Dealer wanted $560/mo for 36 month, 15000, 5% lease with a 48% residual. That includes all personal property and sales taxes. Purchase through credit union w/ no money down will be $380/mo.
