We got a great deal on our F150 with discount package, rebates and x-plan at end of March: $26435 MSRP -2000 SXT Discount 21683 Z-Plan Price -3000 Rebate -1000 FMCC rebate -500 Retiree Bonus rebate -500 Because I asked what else since was end of month $16683 OTD $650.50 3.25% Sales tax, plus tax, title and tags in OK. Ford jams you on the interest rate if you go with them. I've got 800 FICO and still got socked with 8.99% rate for 60 mo. I refied with my credit union last week for 4% for 60 months. Come out ahead taking that rebate though....They're stupid to think people won't refi..... Great truck for the money. :)

Hello tawright4. Ford's lease program on the 2008 Explorer is slightly better in the New York area than it is in the rest of the country. Ford is currently providing $3,000 to $3,500 lease cash on the 2008 Explorer, the exact amount varies by region. What you do with this cash is negotiate a selling price on the Explorer that you want that's as close to dealer invoice as possible and then have the dealer that gives it to you deduct the lease cash from that to arrive at the capitalized cost for your lease. Unfortunately, most banks do not deal directly with the general public when leasing vehicles. This is OK though because Ford Credit's lease program for this truck is so attractive that you probably won't be able to lease it for less through an independent bank anyhow. Pricing Question
by highlanderbob on Sat Dec 08 04:12:03 PST 2007
OK, pulled the trigger and ordered the following: 2008 AWD Limited (30,134) Panoramic Roof (1186) White Sand Tri-Coat Paint (421) Trailer Tow Package (336) Rubber Mats (47) Cargo Management System (55) Sirius Satellite Radio (166) 5 Gals gas (yeah, they charge you!) (15.50) FDAF Assessment Fee (458) Dest and Del (705) + $150 over invoice GRAND TOTAL $33,673.50 not including tax and license, doc fee MINUS any applicable rebates or incentives at the time of delivery The gas and FDAF fee kinda makes the warm and fuzzy part of this transaction disappear. The salesman (as well as the sales manager) did say two things that I would like some feedback on from those of you in the know: 1. We cannot guarantee the final price of your order until the car is delivered because Ford may raise the price of an option or something and we will have to pass that on to you??????? Of course, I am immediately suspicious of this since I signed a contract for the above pricing. I figure if they pull that at time of delivery, then the gloves will come off then. Have any of you heard of a dealer doing this? 2. I wanted them to apply the current rebates/incentives but they again said I would get whatever was being offered by Ford at the time of delivery. Why is it I can buy an unbuilt house for several hundred's of thousands of dollars, settle on the price with the builder, take possession 6 months later and not have to worry about the price of lumber going up? Geez, this stuff is exactly why I hate buying a car. What an amazing alien world the whole purchasing of a motor vehicle has become. And they wonder why car dealers have a bad rep with the general public! Overall, we are looking forward to our new Edge in 6-10 weeks. Hopefully, nothing will come up to queer the deal. Thanks again, in advance, for shedding any helpful light on this.
1998 Taurus LX
by mrjdl71 on Fri Nov 30 05:43:07 PST 2007
I bought a 1998 Taurus from a friend of mine. It was his company's car. I definitely think he gave me a great deal for $2000. It had ~145,000 miles on it (over a year ago). It has nearly 190,000 miles now. It's an OK. The dashboard lights don't work all that well. The interior light won't turn on when I open the door. The tape player wants to flip over and spit out occasionally. The passenger side electric door lock works independently of the other doors. I get 18-20 MPG most of the time although I drove it from Nashville to Chicago last month and got 38 MPG! The transmission is doing something strange... it is slow to engage and slow to disengage. I can feel the transmission disengage, not when I let me foot off the gas but when I'm pressing down on the brake. The transmission will sometimes bark the tires when first starting off. Supposedly there's a sensor in the transmission that has gone bad and the only way to fix it is to replace the transmission. Of the things I wished the designers did differently, better front cup holders, made the "ashtray" able to open when the center armrest was up/open, a splash guard to allow the drive belt to not get wet when driving thru a puddle, an "idiot light" to show whether the alternator OR the battery was going bad, and less wind noise around the tops of the doors at interstate speeds. :D
Re: 2008 Exped Limited EL 4x4 lease [antnec]
by Car_man on Wed Nov 07 04:05:41 PST 2007
Hi Anthony. The truck that you described probably has a spread of around $4,700 to $4,800 between its full MSRP and its dealer invoice price. In addition to this spread, Ford is currently providing $1,000 bonus cash and $500 lease cash ($1,500 total) on it. This gives you a total of over $6,000 to play with in your negotiations. If I was in the market for this truck, I personally would want a larger discount than the $3,600 that you were quoted. I would shoot for a discount of at least $5,000. The lease rate that you were quoted for this truck looks about right to me. Vehicles' residual values are always calculated as a percentage of their full MSRPs. The acquisition fee is OK as well. Ford Credit charges a $595 acquisition fee on every vehicle that it leases. I have never personally leased a vehicle through Ford Credit, but I have never seen anyone complain about them being unusually strict when evaluating vehicles for excess wear and teat at lease-end. I have found that most manufacturers' captive finance companies are very reasonable when evaluating the lease-end condition of vehicles. If I was leasing this truck, I personally would pass on any additional excess wear and tear coverage. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum
