I'm in NYC and interested in the Focus lease deal that is going on here (and possibly elsewhere. Here are the terms : Stk #FU81101, VIN #8W109834, 4 cyl., auto, a/c, p/ABS/winds/lks, am/fm cd, cloth int., traction control, ambient interior lighting, Sirius satellite radio, MSRP: $17,445. $3574† due at signing (incl. $0 sec dep) + tax, tags & mv fees. †Down pymt/1st mo pymt/sec dep/bank fee /Total pymts/residual: $2880/$99/$0/$595/$2376/$10,816 leases include 10,500 mi./yr w/.20c per mi. thereafter. All prices are plus tags & taxes. this all seems fine to me, except the $595 bank fee. Ive never leased, only bought, and never a brand new vehicle (usually certified used). $595 seems like a lot to me. can anyone share experiences with bank fees, or even better, with this particular lease deal? thanks.

Re: Charging for spare tire? [bigbutr]

You will also find charges of $100+ for floor mats, $80 for chrome exhaust tips etc. It doesn't matter what they choose to itemize or include as it is the cost out the door that matters. The higher end Crown Victoria stickers around $32000, but they are lucky to move them for $18000, so take MSRP for what its worth also. Look up the car 1 yr old used 07 on kbb.com or edmunds.com/ The wholesale price of thousands of your car at auction after 12 months and 15000 mi should give a good indication of how close to reality MSRP is. Good luck --jjf I've been out test driving cars to replace my reliable and paid for 1996 Chevy Beretta and went by the local Ford place to check out the Focus and Fusion. I haven't been on a Ford lot in quite a while, but I have been at nearly every other brand, so I was a bit taken aback to find a $60 sticker charge for a spare tire on both the Focus and Fusion. Is this what is has come to, charging for a spare? I didn't ask, but I'm assuming this is for a full-size spare since there's no way a donut could cost that much. I'm going back on Monday to drive the Fusion. While it's not really on my short list, I do want to see how it rides. I will say I nearly passed out when I saw an 08 Taurus Limited stickering for 32,700. My how times have changed.
Escape Hybrid Availability
by fomocona on Fri Jan 04 10:40:15 PST 2008
I monitor several webpages on behalf of Ford and I hope you don't mind if I post a response here. Ford's capacity to build Escape and Mariner hybrids is constrained by our battery supplier. There are currently no domestic (U.S.) sources for high voltage batteries although that will change as other companies push forward into the market for high voltage batteries. The demand for hybrids in general in the last half of 2007 has put a lot of pressure on several battery suppliers in Japan. Improving the supply capacity is a long term process which involves a lot of capital investment. Battery manufacturers are understandably cautious about these kinds of expenditures. However, we're working to resolve the issue of hybrid batteries' availability long before the introduction of the Fusion Hybrid later this year. In response to several large cities demanding that taxi fleets be replaced with more fuel efficient vehicles, we produced a lot of Hybrids which made it into taxi fleets around the country. Although the east and west coasts had received a slightly larger proportion of FEH production, new vehicle orders are being processed in the order placed. With that said, we are producing 2008 Escape Hybrids as fast as possible. The situation is not ideal for Ford or the consumer but we truly appreciate our customers' patience and loyalty. If you have a vehicle on order, please contact your dealership regarding the status of your order. If you're interested in more information please visit fordvehicles.com or your local dealership.
