Re: New 07 ZX4 ST [lilboyracer]

My brother and I just hammered a deal for my mother. We did well. 07 Focus ZX4 SES with auto, weather package(heated seats) and safety package (ABS and side airbags). $13800 + tax. No doc fee. That includes $2500 of rebates. MSRP was 17,660 and that was an old list price, because the car was delivered in June/July 2006. It took a lot of hammering, walking out, phone calling. The stories about a bona-fide $5k-6k + off MSRP are lies or sheer hyperbole. Show me the signed motor vehicle purchase contract, and I'll believe it. Yeah, there are good deals to be had, but these dealers don't give it up. In fact, a number of them are saying "oh they're 4 cylinder, economical cars in huge demand, these care won't stick around ..." There are a lot of high volume, fake lowest price Ford dealers in MA who put out the lost leader ads in papers showing incredible deals, but when you go there you're given all sorts of stories and shifty back pedaling. These guys are scumbags, and they waste your time. Try a mom and pop smaller dealership like we did that has 1 sitting on their lot. You're better off going to a place that prides themselves on customer service, one price no hassle, and then break their rules by hammering on a sitting car on their lot. Screw the high volume dealers like Herb Chambers who are billionaires with glitzy showrooms and "capaccino bars". Like advertising that sexy new dealership is going to make me want to put more money in his pocket.

Third Ranger Purchased
by bri66 on Wed Apr 04 00:07:46 PDT 2007
Well, I couldn't hold off any longer and took advantage of Ford rebates on left over 06 inventory. Bought the 06 2-dr 4x4 extended cab FX4 model. MSRP was $24,660 Ford rebated $3,000 and dealer took off additional $1,600. Final cost before adding premium bump to bumper $20,060. I am very happy with deal and believe I will have for many years. 1983 Ranger 200,000+ miles, 1994 Ranger 297,000+ miles and still going strong. The Ranger maybe outdated to some other truck makers, but I will take ol reliable USA anyday. :shades:

What Ford should do is demand half of the mark-up premiums the dealerships are charging for their Shelby's and GT Mustangs. That would right the ship. HA! HA! They are having problems, but they will come through it with no problem. :shades:

Dinosaurs yes, but would not even consider buying anything but. Are people paying invoice to own? My first 1983 Ranger 4x4 2.3l drove it for over 11 years, 250k + sold it to my brother for $1K and could have got more if it wasn't my brother. Bought a 1994 Ranger 4x4 4.0l and my son is still driving it with 295K miles and going strong. Only complaint was the auto 4x4 push button crapp, should have kept it manual hubs with a shift on the floor. I'm going to be buying my third Ranger in a few months, won't even consider taking another make for a test drive. Yes sir I will stick with the brand I trust the most. My current vehicles are a 1966 Mustang, 1994 Ranger, 2001 Escape, 2004 Freestar(...wifes), and last but not least my 2007 GT 500 Shelby. P.S. Ford did not pay me to post this message, nor am I affiliated in any way with Ford. HA! HA! Although I think they should give me a few shares. :shades:
Year End Purchase
by gf2020 on Tue Jan 02 09:47:36 PST 2007
There does not seem to be too much activity on this message thread, but I figured I would chime in with my recent purchase experience. Over the holiday weekend I purchased a new, leftover 2006 Mercury Mountaineer Premier AWD V8. My wife and I had been looking at some lightly used '06 Ford Explorer Limiteds and the new Mountaineer actually ended up being less expensive than a used Ford. Our transaction was complicated by the trade-in of our 2002 Ford Explorer XLT V8 with 92,000 miles, but suffice to say, it was pretty straightforward to get the dealer to go about $6000 below invoice with all of the available rebates. Since we plan to keep this SUV for 5 or 6 years, we chose to go with the 0% financing for 60 months so we gave back $4000 in rebates but we were still well below invoice with a fair value on our trade. Anyone considering a loaded Ford Explorer should really evaluate the Mercury Mountaineer. Many of the options that are still optional on the Explorer Eddie Bauer or Limited are standard on the Mountaineer Premier - back-up sensor and power fold third row seat among them. Happy New Year!
