The dealership is the largest Ford dealerships in our area - Robinson Bros in Baton Rouge LA. While we were there (under 3 hours total including test drive), only maybe three other couples were there in sales rooms, and a handful outside looking. It was dead zone. But, that could be because it was the middle of the month. Or, things are looking bad for Ford, or car buying right now. Whatever. I had the most professional young lady sales person, who didn't apply pressure -- she really knew her product and let the car sell itself. My husband went there first, last Sat and looked at the car alone, then I went alone, and today we finally got there together. She was patient with us on all three occasions. Even today when I was trying to make my mind up between the Merlot and White. I'm glad I decided on the white. It's a striking car. Even the finance mgr was wonderful. They had an internet price which equalled invoice. Options were: Leather, Sirus, Sync, reverse sensor and interior convenience pkg. I believe these folks have to eat too, so I'm happy paying invoice. As I stated, the finance mgr was amazing. He made offers of various insurances and warranties but didn't push. Aside from the price of the car, tax (which at 9% is a killer), title and license -- not one other extra charge was added on. Title and license were right at $200, which is very normal. No mop n glo, no pressure. A totally refreshing, almost surreal experience. I feel like I got a good deal, and didn't have to suffer a stroke with anyone over price. Of course, I didn't have a trade in and that helped. We did get the 0% financing. I am thrilled about that beyond words. I love this car. I was concerned about the gas mileage, but I'd rather be safe in a larger car. Also, my husband is very tall and simply can't fit in the small cars. Even not broken in, we averaged 19 mpg driving around town after the purchase. :)
Re: 2008 Exped Limited EL 4x4 lease [Car_man]

Hello Car Man To answer your questions in addition to every number the dealer gave me that is figured in the prices below. So here we go, thanks again 2008 Ford Expedition 4x4 EL (600A order code) everything below is in the purchase price of $46,673.08 from the dealer's "VEHICLE ORDER CONFIRMATION" SHEET Skid Plate Daytime running lights Power moonroof rubber floor mats rearview camera trailer tow navigation chrome rack with cross bars power lift gate rear seat entertainment 8 U.S. Gal gas charge $24.08 FDAF assessment $578 Dest and Deliver $900 all for $46,173.08 plus $500 his commission = 46,673.08 and an additional 25 gallons of gas (full tank on delivery is in this price) now he gave me a copy of the "Deal Worksheet" with the following numbers from his Lease Work sheet from Ford's dealer website FIRST COLUMN Lease Source - RCL Price -$46,740.00 ($66.92 more then his quote price) trade in amt - $0.00 trade in payoff - $0.00 cash down - $0.00 (no check mark in the box next to this number) Rebates -$500.00 (no check mark in the box next to this number) Lease Rate - 1 Term -24 payment per yr - 12 next payment due MSRP - $50,420.00 other - $0.00 SECOND COLUMN Insurance -none credti life -none 0.00 (a check mark in check box) credit A/H -none 0.00 (a check mark in check box) ext. srv -none 395.00 (Red Carpet Lease wear care) (check mark in check box) ext. srv plan code- blank garage location Mileage Allowed -15,000 (.20 mile over 30,000 at the end of 24 months) mileage purchase - 0 mileage cost -$0.15 THIRD COLUMN residual % 56 - $28,235.20 sales tax% 8.375 - $1,844.58 (check mark in check box) property tax - 0.00 (no check mark in box) luxyrt tax - 0.00 (no check mark in box) office fees - $57.50 (no check box available) title/reg - $45.00 (check mark in check box) license/lien - 0.00 soft adds - 0.00 ACQ Fee - $595.00 (what is this) (check mark in check box) security deposit - $0.00 TWO BOXES DOWN AT THE BOTTOM SAID amount due at signing ------- monthly payment $1,40.09 ------- $903.09 I would also get any additional rebates at the time the car was delivered if anything better was in affect at the time of delivery. which he was told by his rep that these cars are "FREE WHEELING", built in 4 weeks and up to 2 weeks to deliver. Not unless if ordering the power running boards the built time could be doubled. Also if he was to order this car he would need a $500 deposit that would be applied to the $1,403.09 so all I need at pick up is $903.09 he also told me if I order this in silver and were to change my mind he would give the $500 deposit back, if I ordered any other color I would lose the deposit. so happens I like the silver car anyway. So is this a deal worth going for? Is this dealership giving me more info that usual? Is Ford strict when they evaluate the car at the end of the lease? The dealer said Ford wants you back so they are somewhat lenient. He wasn't pushing the Red lease care package. But Ieft it in for now. (I am planning on buying car seat covers with 4 car seats in the car) I noticed he used the Residual valvue against the MSRP price is the correct? Which number did he get the tax of $1,844.58 from? ACQ Fee do you know what that is for? Also I found strange is that he told me in writing .20 cents per mile over 30K at the end of 24 months and another dealer told me .25 cents a mile over $30,000 at the end of the 24 months. Who is correct? This is every piece of info that I have from the dealer, he gave me all print outs off the computer from Ford's dealership website. Hope I gave you all the info you need to determine if the $903 is good or not? Is this dealer on the level with everything he supplied? what would the payment be if I was to put 1,000 or 2,000 down? Thanks again Anthony bx, ny
2008 Ford Explorer Limited 4x4 v6
by chuck123 on Wed Apr 23 13:42:36 PDT 2008
Please reply to thoughts on pricing: 2008 Ford Explorer limited. 4k in dealer rebates (3k buy incentive + 1k for finance)=4k MSRP: 39650ish Adjusted MSRP: 35465 Opts: Sync/sun-sirius/Nav/power run boards/electric 3rd row fold/powered running boards....all other opts standard like 18" alum wheels and leather/ Taking off the 4k haircut I get adjusted msrp of: 35465 I was offered about 32600 with another 2k tax+tags+dest = out the door 34600 According to kbb avg price was: 33120 so I'm a littel better by about 500 dollars. Dealer invoice is listed as: 36752...guess only the 1st 3k comes off dealer invoice?? Still attempting to negotiate with multiple dealers (who I believe have now contacted each other :-) ) I bid 32k "out the door" really hoping to get a little budge...got noth'n. What do you guys think? I don't believe you can look at the first price of almost 40...you have to look at it from the adjusted msrp as well as dealer invoice price. I heard a sales guy from one lot tell me they have not sold an SUV in 2 mths...not surprised with gas at almost 4 dollars a gallon. This was when I was looking at the edge....which for just a front wheel drive was more expensive than this truck. Love anyones opinion...was going for a cheaper truck...but the decked out limited is crazy on price and the Eddie Bower with equal features is close to same price.

In my mind, it all depends if you need the car now, or can afford to wait 6 months. If you scan the previous messages in this file, you'll see lots of woe from folks that were promised a truck with a 60 day delivery time, and it took them much longer to get it in. I'm not convinced the availability of the batteries, the critical element for producing these vehicles, will be any better this year. If the price of gas spikes to $4.00 a gallon, that will only drive the demand for these puppies that much higher. If they're available now, and they're of the type you want, I would buy it. The ones you will likely find on the dealer's lots will be fully tricked out, since they make more money that way. If you want the basic capability without frills (no leather, no Navigation system, no moonroof), you'll probably have to order it special. The 08 and 09 models will be very similar, since, there's not much in the works planned for design changes that I can see. 2008 was a major design turn for the truck. There will likely be at least a 4-month gap betweeen when you can order (May) and when Ford starts delivery (late September at the earliest). Unless Denver is radically different from the DC area, don't think you're going to get a great deal below MSRP, either. My $0.02 worth.
Re: Why Buy the 6 Cylinder Engine [daryll44]

This is kind of off the subject. I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD with the Luxury Package. Moonroof and Roof Rack Crossbars were the only options added to the already loaded vehicle. I have been trying to sell the thing for a month now and I'm getting nothing. No calls or inquiries. The thing only has 35,800 miles on it and it is about 99% flawless inside and out. The original MSRP was over $37K and I'm only asking $14,500 which is negotiable. This is well below what I see online at Dealerships which are asking between $16K and $17K. I've been looking at a new Outlook XR or a Highlander Limited and have worked out deals, but when we get to trade in they are offering ridiculously low deals. They tell me that in today's market with gas prices so high, V8's with AWD are not highly sought after, I'm just warning people that are considering buying new should plan on keeping the vehicle until the wheels fall off because you can't sell them. I've walked away from both deals disappointed, but had hoped I could find a buyer on my own. Absolutely no luck.
2008 Ford Mustang, Bullitt Edition

Anyone have any luck with this car? The MSRP is $32,720, Invoice is $30,388. Ford has a $1500 rebate. My dealer has offered $28,118 + tax, tag, title, etc. Anyone think I can do any better. Initially they said $34k because there was a premium on it as only 7000 were being made. Now, I think they are hurting to sell them, because of gas prices. Any thoughts?
