Buying a car from a Ford Car Dealer
After much consideration, I decide to toss the dice and buy american again. I was looking at the toyota highlander, but they would not budge an inch off MSRP. The Freestyle I got had an MSRP of $32800. It is an 05 SEL AWD with 65 miles on it pretty much optioned out (leather and safety package). As I had $4500 negative equity in my trade in and I got the extended warranty ($995), with rebates and discounts, my out the door price was $32,528. Thus I think I got a pretty good deal. Time will tell if the vehicle holds up well, but so far so good. I purchased this vehicle in Marietta, Ga.
I just purchased a FWD Limited with a $31895 list for $27206. They discounted the Family Plan price by $1200. Could have had something to do with the purchase on July 31st and end of month stuff. Had originally hesitated in buying the Freestyle because of it being dropped after model year 2007 but simply choose to ignore that as it is a great car/suv/??? whatever Ford wants to call it. Drives great and so far even as brand new and not worn in at all, mpg has been good. Will update after first trip of any length. Anyone hesitating like I did, go for it. I agree with what one writer said that perhaps Ford has this priced too low and will up the anty when it goes to Mercury. If interested, bought from Team Ford in Marietta, Ga.
Here is what I paid: Tribute S V6 Pkg 2 Added the DVD and Auto Tint Mirror w/ Compass & Temp. They gave me 3,500 for my trade (Ford offered me 1,000!!!!) 4,000 rebate Ended up financing around 19,000. They gave me the 7.99%, but, I too am going to re-fi after 3 months with my bank. I looked at about 8 small SUVs before choosing this one. My search came down to the Mercury Mariner or the Tribute. Since they are basically the same vehicle, it then came down to price and warranty. Mazda offered me 2,500 more on my trade, more in the rebate and a longer warranty, making this one a no brainer! I bought from Jim Ellis Mazda in Marietta, GA. Great experience! They didn't have a Pebble Ash one on the lot, but found 2 at their other dealership and brought both over for me to look at. I chose the one with the cargo net, rear bumper step plate, and wheel locks. ( at no additional charge, of course!! ;) )
