DO NOT BUY FROM ANY GUNTHER STORE

by Do not buy from Gunther on 12/21/2020

**** AVOID ALL GUNTHER STORES **** Purchased a car 3 months ago (2017 CERTIFIED Jetta that was supposed to be gone over). Now my mother is stuck stranded. 25,000 miles and the AC is going out. 25,000 miles and the starter is failing. 25,000 miles and the battery is dying. 25,000 miles and there is a headlight flicker on occasion. 25,000 miles and it's sitting at a VW dealer here in Central Florida who wants to charge me 300.00 for a battery that should have been replaced or checked before hand. Have called VW of Delray and apparently they have no management staff AT ALL at the VW store. The GM is gone, the Sales manager is gone, there is NO ONE there to assist with the issue. This is what you are to expect when buying a car from this dealership? What in the ..k.... Absolutely horrible customer service and no one responds to phone calls. The reception girl leaves you on hold for 12 minutes and 14 minutes respectively.

by David on 01/21/2019

I leased my tiguan from Gunther delray this weekend. was in and out in 30 minutes. I highly recommend speaking to an internet sales manager. They will have everything worked out for you before you step foot into the door.

Physically threatened

by Gpribble on 01/15/2017

BEWARE!!! (The following is the experience I had with a salesman named Beau and the sales manager named Dan) Came in to test drive a gti and see if I like it Test drove a couple and told beau what my budget is before we walked into the building and talk about numbers Walked back to beaus office sat down and filled out some paper about what my target price is. Beau left and took the paper to the manager. After 10 minutes or so beau returned with a number I didn't want to pay which I was was ok with and I told beau to keep an eye out for a car that might fit with in my price range and he agreed on that. But before I left he told me he wanted me to meet his manager which I thought was a nice gesture— making me feel more comfortable. Dan, Beau's manager, was looking at the preliminary financial overview I filled out earlier and then asked me what I wanted to pay for the GTI. I told him the price I'm looking for and told him that Beau said he would keep an eye out for me. The manager, Dan, immediately was insulted by the fact I wanted to stay around 17k for a 2014 GTI and spoke in a condescending tone. I was treated like I was stupid, continually asked me why do I even bother to look at GTIs with his hands raised aggressively in the air. It felt like a verbal assault and that's a terrible way to treat customers that want to give you their money. At this point I was very offended and hurt so I asked him, out of frustration, why is he being [non-permissible content removed] and treating a customer like this. Obviously, my response wasn't ideal but fair given Dan's prejudicial tone about my financial situation. In all honesty, I am grateful that I am in a position to pay for that car outright in cash. But that isn't what I am prepared to do and I'd rather finance one at a decent price—like any educated car shopper would attempt to do. At this point, Dan turned red and got up out of his chair and said "Oh, I'll show you," while walking toward me as if he were going to hit me, at this point beau said "George, let's go," so we walked out and I was in disbelief asking beau what the heck just happened. Shortly after this point the manager came sprinting out the front door. He was breathing hard, almost in anger. He just stopped and stared at me. Beau had to put his hand out and say "Woe!" direct to Dan. Dan then threw something in the garbage with anger, ripped the front door open and stormed back into the dealership. I left the dealership and shortly after I received a text from beau apologizing for his manager.

Absolutely Horrible Experience

by beachlover1201 on 07/22/2016

Please, for your own sanity, avoid this dealership. In my 42 years of driving, I have never dealt with such shady people. The first person you deal with is so patronizing and promises you the moon-even spends hours drawing up the paperwork for the car you have fallen in love with! Then, because you are so happy, they ask you to fill out a survey right then and there! The only thing is, the survey is pre-filled!!! All 10's and yess's!!! Wow! They do think a lot of themselves. When I asked about this, the salesman said to me, "Oh, the dealership makes us do this." Really? Is this just shady or what? Then we get passed off to the finance guy. This is where it gets really good. The finance guy looks at all the paperwork and says "Oh, you're buying your lease? No, you can't do that. There must be some mistake. No, Not with your credit rating.Hahaha" He finds it funny. Then he picks up the phone like he's going to call someone and puts it back down. Well, we're going to have to find out if we can get a loan for you. Then before I knew it, I was paying 17% interest for 6 more years! By the time I get done paying it off, I will have paid approximately $39,000 for a 2013 Jetta. Stay Away!

mistreated as a customer

by StingrayLane67 on 04/02/2016

here is the scenario, My father and I went to Gunther V.W., in Delray Beach, FL. on December 31, 2015, to purchase a new V.W. Since my father had bought a V.W. in 12/2012 under the former owners, Maroone V.W., we decided to return to this location. Salesman could not get us to agree on the purchase terms and conditions: They did use a bait and switch tactic, from what was stated on the dealerships Web site on 12/31/15. Salesman: Steve Mandell: was a decent guy. He had to go review our offer on the vehicle and get an approval on our offer price: He went to the Sales Manager, Dan Gunther. Sales Manager: Dan Gunther comes over to my father and I. Dan was very rude to us! Rudely said the following: You are Not getting the vehicle, Go buy a used Car, Go Buy a Motorcycle. You wasted our time today! Dan Gunther's family owns the Dealership! Dan Gunther was rude and Condescending, and arrogant too! If he continues to treat customer's poorly in his condescending manner, his business will suffer for his reputation, of mistreatment of customers! My father and I walked out of the dealership, We then drove to Schumacher V.W. Since I am a returning customer, of Schumacher , V.W., I bought the 2016 V.W. Jetta their. I was not treated rudely at Schumacher V.W. in West Palm Palm Beach! A complaint was also filed with Volkswagen of North America against Gunther V.W., in Delray Beach, FL.
