kbb.com nada.com used car appraiser. If a 41500 msrp dodge ram (probably 43000 msrp for 08) with nav and such`wholesales used in 12 months (07) for $20000, buying it (an 08) for any less than 15000-16000+ off msrp is financially painful. Your target for a leftover low mi new 07 (41000 msrp) is about $22000 or so. Somewhere around 24000-26000 on an 08. (preferably closer to the lower) Forget about edmunds TMV on new vehicles. It is many times optimistic (for the dealer) and grossly optimistic for trucks. (I wonder what it is on a new 08 42000 ram?-- worth 20000 wholesale in a 12 months) Check out my message 4681 on the hyundai sonata forum for useful info on how to buy a car. Forget about bringing in paperwork for negotiating. Get 10-20 + bids via email from dodge dealers last week of the month for 08s. Work the top 2-3 against one another, eventually via cell phone. If your leftover 07 dealer won't chop at least 2000-3000 off your best deal on a similar 08 forget about it. Good luck --jjf

Our plate registrations are in the $100-300 range as well, depending on MSRP of the vehicle new as well.. Even @ 3 months into your 3rd year, can you transfer your plate for the remaining 9 months to another vehicle for a smaller fee in CA? In MI, we have a $19 registration/plate transfer fee that allows you to keep whatever plate you have until your next birthday, assuming it has already been paid for on the prior vehicle.

At $0.20/mi over 23625, you are paying almost half your payment in extra miles, $242/mo. That leaves you @ $270/mo for the standard 10500/yr which is reasonable if that incldues taxes. Even @ higher mileage rates, leasing has some advantages and can still make financial sense. If used for a business, it is easier to expense. Re: 27mo leases, different states may handle registration differntly, but 27 vs. 24 moths matters not for vehicles in Michigan. Tags expire on the registered owner's bithday. If my birthday happens to fall in theose extra 3 moths, yes I have to pay for another year's worth of registration on that vehicle while only using it for <3mo. If my birthday is not within the next 3 months, it doesn't matter. Actualy it rarely matters anyway as you usually transfer the plate to your replacement vehicle. If the next vehicle is significantly less expensive, you end up paying more for the plate, tbut that's nit-picking <$25 usually.

Charger R/T has a 57% residual and a .00199 money factor. This is what my dealer just quoted for a 27month 10,500 mi/yr lease. This was specifically on the R package car with the $491 pymt
April Lease Rate

My local paper (NW Ohio) has a 2008 Charger SE plus pkg for $109/ mo for 10,500 mi/yr and 24 mo. This is with $1998 down (includes first months pymt) and also includes employee discount and lease loyalty. Does anyone know the 24 month residuals values for the SE plus, the R/T and the AWD R/T? It would also be helpful to know the money factor for each. With the SE Plus I estimate that a $0 down sign and drive lease including taxes would be about $220. I would like to lease an AWD RT, but depending on the residual and money factor it could be $400+ a month. I plan to contact the dealer in the next couple of days. If I know the residual and money factors on these cars I will know if they are trying to rip me off on the R/T since I really do not want the smaller engine.
Looking at the 08 Charger SXT
by mike513 on Tue Jan 01 20:03:05 PST 2008
Well I thought I had my mind all made up with a recent quote on an '08 Accord LX-P for $269/month for 36months/12k/yr with only $696 down. Factoring in the downpayment, that's about $288/month. I'm wondering if I can get the new Charger for anywhere near that. I'm located in MA if that helps. I did some of my homework. I know the '08 Charger SXT with "G" package MSRP is $26,360($25,685 + destination of $675). Minus the $2,000 incentive brings me down to $24,360. Invoice on the car is $23,867 or $24,542 with the destination charge added. I'd like to do a 36 month lease with 10,500 mi/month. Can anyone provide me with the money factor and residual value based on these figures? I am using the lease calculator at www.leaseguide.com although it doesn't seem to put out the same numbers as the dealers I've talked to. Does anyone recommend a different lease calculator? Thanks for your time!
