Take it. I've seen them as low a $35,000 but there may be differences between what you're lookin at and what I'm seeing.

Don't kill yourself trying to "leverage" something for a "once in a lifetime" or "insane" bargain. Chrysler /Dodge may be an exception, but the RAM has commonly sold for 12k off msrp for many years, for an average deal. For several years, dealers in Detroit and perhaps other cities were selling them for 50%+ off with employee/family discounts in the may-sept timeframe. The MSRP has recently become even more inflated on the higher end models, and perhaps the lower end making 50% off even less motivational. If you really really like and want the RAM, go for a 50% off deal. Just don't get a ticket driving to the dealer for 12000-13000+ off. That has been an average deal for quite some time. Chrysler has been shedding employees and in difficulty for quite a while, the build quality and reliability of the vehicles weren't exactly stellar in previous years, much less those with build dates in the last 12 months. The motivation and morale of the employee base may have been less than usual. An "insane" deal would have to entail considerably more than 60% off msrp. Good luck --jjf I'm wondering what the lowest price paid for a o frills single cab ram 1500 is. I'm trying to leverage this whole Chrysler bankruptcy in an insane deal on a dodge ram. I live in SAcramento CA, and so far the best deal I have found is 14,000.00 before tax+fees (15800 out the door) on a Ram 1500 with an MSRP of 22,170. I'm not eligible for the dodge loyalty deal (they could have offered 12500 if i was)... so im wondering if anyone has had success getting a better deal, and if someone could point me in the direction of a dealer in CA that can sell one to me for

The $2500 rebate got it to $13,000 off MSRP.

Before the employee pricing expired May 4th, it was easy to find an SLT for $13,000 off as employee pricing + $2500 rebate + 0% apr was available. Now $10,000 off MSRP is the best I'm reading about. I'd say take your deal. If you looking for a diesel, there are still plenty of deals on 2009 Ram 2500 & 3500 models at more than $12,000 off if you qualify for the discounts.
Scammed by a lease

I had an incident with Dodge in Canada that I hope is okay to share here with the readers of this topic. Very educational and hopefully will help others when they try to close their old lease. I leased a Dodge Grand Caravan in 2001 and paid ~$500/month for 48 months. I returned it 40 months later without any penalties because I got a new 2005 Dodge Caravan and leased it again for 48 months at $370/month. I got tired of Vans so I recently purchased a Dodge Journey which was an excellent decision, I feel. I have it for about 2 months now and it is great for the price. When I made the deal with the sales person at the dealership I told him that I have 5 months remaining on my lease, will you take over that lease if I bought a new car from you ? He said yes, without a problem. He even calculated this price of ~$1900 into the deal and said that it won't be an issue. I spoke with others who have leased cars in the past and returned the cars early to get new cars. They confirmed that they never had to sign anything for the old card when they picked up the new car. I received a letter from Chrysler Financial last week to advise me that I owe them ~$1500 on my lease. I called my sales person and found out that he was only going to pay for 1 month of the lease and I will have to pay for the reaming 4 months. I went down to the dealer and spoke with him and the manager. Neither of them was helpful and all I heard was "I understand but...". I explained to them that it would make no sense to me to carry 2 car payments for the next 4 months had I known this was the deal. I reminded them that my wife was there when I mentioned the 5 months to him. He didn't care, sale was done and he wants nothing to do with me. Very unfortunate situation for which I hope others will learn from. I am taking the dealer to court because I cannot afford to pay this $ figure to Chrysler Financial. Also, I got the media involved to make sure this scam does not happen again to anyone else, a complete waste of time. Any suggestions ? Has anyone else gone through this before ?
