Work should have fallen under warranty - customer service is poorWritten by weezul on 11/01/11 02:09:22 PM PDT Go back to Service reviews

I started experiencing a loud pinging noise in the front driver side of my vehicle last summer. Based on my previous knowledge of vehicle service and repair from assisting in working in a mechanic's shop for over ten years, I expressed my concerns to the service manager that my driver side shock might be having problems. The first time I brought the car to the dealership, their solution was to adjust some backing plate on the brake pad, they thought it might have moved after they installed new tires on the vehicle. At this point, the vehicle was still under warranty. The vehicle still exhibited the same symptoms afterwards, so I waited until my next oil change to have them check it again. This time, they were unable to recreate the issue. I realize this is understandable, so I waited until it started happening again, and brought it back once again. The service manager then indicated that it might be the shock after all, and that I would need to pay to have it replaced since it was out of warranty. I expressed my concerns that the issue had started occurring before the warranty was up, so he indicated that he would look into their 'good faith' policy to see if it would cover it. In the meantime, he had a mechanic tighten down the bolt on top of the shock. I waited for over a month for him to call me back with information; Kia would pay for the labor if I paid for the parts. The adjustment on the nut solved the problem to begin with, if it had just been diagnosed correctly the first time it would have saved everyone the time and hassle.
