What about part time four wheel drive. Why is everything new AWD. I am less concerned about the added weight than about the frictional drag of running the four wheel drive system all of the time. I could be wrong on this, but I do not believe that you can buy a small SUV which is part time four wheel drive, other than maybe the 4runner. Even many of the full size SUVs are going to AWD and then you really pay at the pump. I have a 4x4 Suburban which I have put just over 50,000 miles on. I might have had it in four wheel drive for 100-200 of those miles and that was over four winters in KS and eastern WA.

We have picked up our Pacifica after the back-up sensors have been installed, and are very happy with the look. Our car is the Linen Gold, and the back-up sensors match the dark finish that is standard with the cars. The sensors are just 4 round circles that were punched into the bumper of the vehicle. They do contrast, but they look fine to my husband and myself. We had the trailer hitch installed at the same time, and are happy with the clean look of it as well. It does not stick out, but is almost flush with the bumper, in fact they cut a bit of the bumper to do the installation. Our dealership did a fine job on installing both items. I understand that the sensors can be painted to match the bumper, but we did not make that request. If you are concerned that you do not want the sensors to be visible, you can see if they can do that, as I have been led to believe that they can. Hope you enjoy it.

I purchased a new Pacifica from a dealer here in the Tacoma area. It was from the Costco recommended dealer. Starting price was $100 over MSRP, then deducted $4,000 off, which ended up to be about $7,000 under MSRP. We are having a trailer hitch and backup sensors added, which the dealer is handling for us. We were treated very well. This was a much nicer experience than the one we had with another dealer in another area, which was selling a used one with 20,000 at only $2,000 under what I would have paid for the without the add ons. That did not make sense, considering warranty, and tire issues. We are very happy. Hope this helps others.

I am a Seattle gal, and want to know what to expect for discounting here in the Seattle/Tacoma area? I see currently there is the $3,000. rebate, but would like to know if the dealers are going much lower. The east coasters seem to be able to achieve up to $7,000 off. Can I expect something similar, or not?

I still have to ask... Do you REALLY think you could have save another 1000.00 from the sleazy dealer? I mean, 1000.00 is a lot of money. I kinda doubt if that would have been the case. I'll bet there was a lot of fine print and qualifiers. Too much money to be real. I'm sure you did well...enjoy!
Don't do this to yourself....!

Seriously... " Did I get a good deal?" If you are happy, you got a good deal...move on. Someone will, no doubt come here and tell you you paid too much. Someone else will tell you you did fine. Trust me, someone, somewhere else no doubt bought the same car you did for less. Just enjoy! Life is short...
