newbie needs help
by jank1 on Sun Sep 14 09:27:57 PDT 2008
Hi, I was hoping for some help/direction as I have never bought a new car before. My wife loves the T/C, we've leased 2 in the past 4 years, now our sales guy is saying buying is the way to go. I would like to own- as long as it lasts!! My 96 Honda Accord is at 220,000, He offered us 22,500 for a T/C 2008 touring K package- 4.9% for 72 months ~368 a month. Nothing down. I don't have a lot to put down or trade in. my credit is A+. I called my bank, they said they couldn't beat that rate. Should I barter for a lower price? What is fair out there? Also what is the quality on the 2008? I am for buying a used 2006 but my wife loves the new one. What do people think? I live in Metro Detroit. Thanks for all the help.

Roomer Mill around here in Detroit (Detoilet) is Chrysler's new slave master ... Cerberus actually wants to make money on Chrysler products. They can't make money subsidizing their lousy resale values on their vehicles .. .hence ... out of the Leasing business ... temporarily we think. Also they own/have an ownership in GMAC and we believe GM is next in line. This really stinks because my T&C is due next week and I cannot get near the $189 w/tax that I am paying currently. I am being quoted $340 ... which is forcing me to look at Honda.
Limited Invoice - How do U know it's real? Frustrated.
by buzz_cii on Tue Jul 08 17:32:09 PDT 2008
Hi folks, newbie here. Been doing a lot of looking at the TC Limited with options: Swivel w/Booster, Tow package, Dual DVD w/ Sirus TV, My Gig w/ Nav, Pwr Sunroof and Power 3rd row. I get quotes rebated from what the sales person is calling "Dealer Invoice". how do i know it's the real invoice from factory or just a made-up invoice? It's like going into JC Penny and seeing 50% off sales. Marked up 3 times, they are still selling at a profit. Also, it pisses me off when the sales person boasts a $2500 rebate. Heck, every Joe-Six-Pack that walks through the door gets the rebate, so it's not special to me. Might as well reduce the "invoice" price $2500 and start from there. I've haggled for a week and am down from MSRP of $42,885 to $35,885. Can I go farther down? Also, with the 2009s around the corner, are the dealers getting some incentives to move the 2008s? Geez, i seen a dealer in Detroit with 247 TC's in stock. You think they would be blowing them out the door at cost+ a few bucks. PS. Any friend coupons out there? Thanks! Buzz
Re: Employee Discount [stater09]

Several months ago someone popped on here and said the Friends and Family discount was being discontinued and that they read it in a local Detroit area newspaper. The rumor was quickly disproved and the person hasn't been back since. The Friends and Family discount is still alive and well. Unfortunately, I gave out all of my 6 numbers for the year way back in January. I've suggested to others who want one to post requests on different Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep forums - not just here on Edmunds (do a Google search). Many Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep employees are also owners of these vehicles and regularly surf the forums.
Re: Used 08 T&C dealer messing with me? [dodgehappy]
by localnet on Mon May 12 03:15:09 PDT 2008
No, I don't think the dealer is messing with you. I just traded in my 07 Ram 1500 QC SLT with the 20" wheels w/Hemi for a 08 T&C. The Ram had a clear title, low miles (5600) and bought at same dealer for $24,236.00 out the door w/rust proofing. Well, last month if I would have done the deal, I would have gotten $22000 on my trade. Not this month though, with fuel spiking and his lot loading up with Hemi powered vehicles, he gave me $20,000. I took the hit, and did the deal. Small dealer in town, and I watch his lot. The trucks have been piling up. And I do know that most of this inventory will go to auction, where the prices for the big iron have been dropping as fuel spikes. Take the above for what it is worth, but the longer you wait the less you will get. Gasoline is over $4 a gallon here in Michigan and these bigger vehicles are not moving up here. I just bought my wife a 2008 Honda Civic EX-L to commute to work in, 35+ mpg! Loaded with Leather and Navigation. I wish Chrysler had a car like this. I know the owner of the Honda dealership, family friend. His lot is also loading up with the heavy stuff. Honda Fits, Civics and Accords are flying off of the lot. He had to go to Ohio to get my wifes car. He had 3 Civic coupes on the lot when we got there, there was one left at the end of the day. And this is Detroit!

I am telling you,Chrysler is not going to offer the friends discount anymore. Well, you seem to be the only one who has heard anything about this, including the Chrysler customer service rep I spoke with on Friday. The rep sounded like she was somewhere in the US, not India. Don't you think that that if this was announced the Detroit Free Press would have included it in a story by now? They seem to have an inside scoop on what's going on with Chrysler before anyone else. You probably have not heard about it is because it was just announced yesterday. So, what's the ORIGINAL source on this announcement? Link? If you interpreted the Detroit Free Press story on Friday March 21 to mean that the Friends program is ending, that's not what it says. The "extended family" EC discount program ended way back on January 2. This is not late-breaking news.
