Like you, I have never leased anything either. The dealers make it sound so tempting but they make more money leasing a car than selling it. Lines like "you're only paying for the time you're using it"....total BS folks!!!

Still a good deal if you plan on keeping it for any length of time. And if you then decide to sell it, you'll have all the records so the new buyer can see it was maintained properly, helping with resale, making it easier to sell etc..I'm sure they have some "window" for oil changes, and keeping oil change receipts etc...is something everyone should do. If you buy an extended warranty for another vehicle, you'd have same requirements probably and transferring it usually costs the buyer money. My first new car was a 1983 Chevy Cavalier. I changed the oil every 3000 miles by myself (in the days before jiffy lube etc..). I put 180,000 trouble free miles on that car.... changing oil, new brakes, exhaust, plugs and had to replace the starter. There's a good reason for performing maintenance. My Dodge dealer is always sending me coupons for $19 oil changes. At my last oil change, they had to perform a service bulletin for airbag sensor and had me leave car instead of waiting. When I picked it up later, they told me during their inspection they perform for all oil changes, they found out my outer tie rods were shot (due to Michigan's very poor pot holed "roads") and since my 3 year warranty (2005 GC) was up in 3 days, they fixed them for me then and there - under warranty.

So what do actual employees do??? I work for a supplier to Chrysler and can get the supplier discount, but a friend of mine that works at Jeep usually got me an employee discount, which was better. Thanks
