2001 Town and Country LXI or Grand Caravan Sport

On Saturday I put in an offer to buy a 2002 grand caravan sport with 57k miles for $11000 out of the door. Looked clean had all the extras that I want like pwr lift/g, compass etc. I then got a call to see a T&C 2001 LXI with leather, video system, pwr lift etc. I am not sure if it is front or all wheel drive yet as this one is from a Toyota dealer and they still have it in the back for what they call recon therefore the sales guys have not put together all the info yet. If all is well we have agreed a price of $11850 out of the door . This one had 42kmiles. My questions are this 1) Is this a reasonable price? 2) From all you experts our their what are the things that I should look out for, any known technical issues with these vehicles. I have been reading a lot on transmission problems with the Chrysler vehicles. I will be buying additional warranty on the vehicle. As I am buying from a reputable Toyota or Dodge dealership, Do I need an independent Carfax report? ( I ask this as I am from the UK and first time that I will be buying a vehicle in the states) Finally which of the two vehicles do people recommend? I know the T&C is 3.8 litres and the G/Caravan is 3.3. Your opinions will be appreciated as well as any advise when I go to test drive the vehicles what things should I check for. Thank in advance

No problem at all.....just to let you know....I asked for quotes from no less than 5 different dealers in my area (20 mile radius) and this quote was by far the best. I received a quote of $23,735 for a Touring model (white). If you want specifics as far as options just let me know(mentioned in previous posts). You can email me if you would like more details. The dealer was Hayes Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Gainesville Georgia(they also have a dealership in Lawrenceville). Their price was easily more than $3,000 less than any other offer. This dealer provided one of the best buying experiences I have ever had. Good Luck!!

I bought my last two vans from Hayes Chrysler in Lawrenceville, GA (Gwinnett County, northeast metro Atlanta) and had two very good experiences. In 2001, we bought a new base Chrysler Voyager in dark green with the upgraded V6, power win/locks/mirr, CD and dark windows. Their selling price was about $600 higher than the Norcross, GA Carmax, but Hayes gave us $2500 more for our trade, a 1997 Hyundai Sonata GLS with V6. Very courteous and pleasant to work with. In April of this year, we wanted an update. I did not want a T&C as the size of the Voyager was perfect for the type of driving we do here in Atlanta. Plus, we only take one big trip a year, so the added space would just be wasted the other 51 weeks of the year. So, taking advantage of the great offers through Chrysler Financial, we went back to Hayes and traded for a white 2003 Chrysler Voyager LX with the quad captain's chairs and split folding rear bench, ABS, keyless and roof rack--all things my 2001 did not have. Our payment actually went down even though the van's price tag was higher! Again, great service and would definitely recommend them. My mother-in-law was in the market for something new last year and she also bought from Hayes due to our good experience.
