Buying a car from a Chrysler Car Dealer
Either they are dumb or they think that most of us are dumb. Considering they deal in car sales everyday and we don't, I think it's the latter. What bother me is when I prove I know what is going on they still pretend I'm dumb, which makes them the dumb ones. :P
What is common for dealers is to try to sell you the van that they want to sell you for the most money right now. Some times that means they don't go out of their way to show you all of their inventory. Unfortunately there aren't enough dealers who genuinely try to help you get into the van that you really want or need. Did the dealer have other vans available? A 27 month lease for only 23,000 miles is pretty restrictive. That averages 850 miles per month. I've never averaged less than 1250 per month and will put on 1,000+ miles just this weekend for a quick trip to Orlando & back from Atlanta. Extra miles over the lease agreement will cost you big time. Unless you hardly drive anywhere out of your town you would most likely go over the limit.
Yes, with the Screens down much of the view from the mirror is blocked. You can still see some, and you can also use the now larger side mirrors more. You just need to get used to it and adjust your mirror checking.
Any luck so far? I'm pretty sure that here in Florida, you won't find cars that were Katrina victims. Pretty much, if you go to a reputable dealer, that shouldn't be a concern. I can't speak for Texas since I've been to the Dallas airport all of once for a layover, but it's been pretty good here in FL. I think there's a dealer or two with SRT's on the lot. If I find a link to one, I'll post if for ya.
Well, we did it! Came home with a loaded Butane Blue/Light Taupe Touring model last night. Only 60 miles on it so far but we love it already! Our dealer of choice was CarMax Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Orlando, FL. Besides the $4000+ employee discount and $2000 Chrysler rebate, we got an additional $1000 CarMax discount and their "processing fee" was only $149. A lot better than the $500-$700 dealer fee quoted by other dealers. Plus no pushing to get us to buy dealer add-ons, extended warranties, etc. The MSRP was just over $35K and we got it out the door with tag, tax, & title for less than $30K. You might be able to haggle an even better deal with some dealers, but this was a no-haggle, no frustration experience and a pleasant one at that! We opted against the factory GPS Navigation system in favor of an aftermarket Garmin unit. More features, portable from vehicle to vehicle, and 1/2 the price through eBay stores. Now I just have to find those chrome 19" wheels! :D
