Start with finding out here at Edmunds how much odff GM is offering...

And as far as that "ends tonight" pressure, that'd be enough to make me buy from another dealer.....As we get closer to the 2009 Aveos coming,the 2008s won't be getting m ore expensive..

I have emailed 3 local dealers in the Baltimore, MD. My parents live in Newport News, VA and they took a look at the car for me as my car is dead in the water so I could not do it myself. I'm looking at the Aveo because I have an family member who works for GM and could get me a discount

Buying an 08 Aveo LT sedan AT: by amethiste on Sun Jul 06 11:44:43 PDT 2008; I have a quote from Casey Chevrolet in Newport News, VA for $14,500 "out the door" under the GM family first plan. Does this seem like a reasonable price. I am nervous about this car as I see a lot of people on car-space seem to be having problems and CR ranked it a 36 out of 100. I commute about 240 miles a week and need something reliable. My 99 Ford Escort has about 200,000 miles and has to be repaired about twice a month so I need to replace it :sick: . Thanks in advance for any input.

If you listen to their spiel, they will tell you that they have hundreds of pre-qualified buyers waiting and all that remains is for them to match one to your car. They will intimate that they are a finance company with buyers just waiting to sign. But, they want an up-front payment from you. I tell all of them to call me back when they have a buyer ready to sign the paperwork and I'd be happy to pay them a commission out of proceeds of the sale. Their unanimous response thus far has bee: "That's not how it works. You pay us up front and then we match you with a buyer." Yeah right. I've got a slightly used bridge you might be interested in... In fairness, perhaps you've found a different breed of company. IF they will accept payment IF/when the deal closes with no other obligation on your part, then why not go with it?
